Pictured: Pork belly baos, Hamburg Sando, and beef curry. The pork belly baos were incredibly delicious. Pork belly was very tender and flavorful, added cucumber and fukujinzuki are the same they add to the main curry dishes. The Hamburg Sando is surprisingly flavorful. The meat (basic hamburger) is smothered in a BBQ type sauce. The bread they use is very soft, almost like Hawaiian rolls but I'm unsure if that's what it is. The sandos are also pretty small with no side. The beef curry was made with very tender brisket. Very delicious a lot like the pork belly when compared by tenderness. I liked the sides in this curry better than the others, the potatoes mixed in was a treat and the broccoli is blackened. I was so impressed by the broccoli I ordered 3 more orders of just that (two pieces for 1.25).The portion sizes are more Japanese than American, in other words, you might consider ordering more than one thing on the menu. I would have been ok with just the curry, but I really needed that bao to feel satisfied. My husband needed a bao and a Sando with his curry. We left feeling satisfied, not stuffed, which is what we usually plan on anyway. It's nice to have a place like that, in my opinion, because I get to try more food :)
Food was delicious and the server was great. Will definitely become a repeat customer
SO GOOD!! Curry is one of my husband and mines favorite meals, so we were excited to try Umami! He tried the pork ramen, and I did the BYOB with the fried squid, both were excellent!! The meat in his ramen melted in your mouth, and the broth alone had so much flavor, and my curry was delightfully spicy and every ingredient tasted amazing on their own and together!!We then shared the mile crepe, which was also great! Gently sweet, and a nice light flavor. You'll be leaving comfortably full! The restaurant itself is a very cozy vibe, and our waitress was a sweetheart, very kind and happy to help us understand the menu if we had questions! Food came out in great time, more than fair prices for the portion size and quality, 14/10, instantly adding Umami to our regular restaurant rotation!✌️
I loved the restaurant. The curry I ordered was spicy than I thought. It had 2 peppers next to it and I thought it was like a scale of 1 out of 10 or 1 out of 5. I really enjoyed it and will be coming back. The owners are really sweet and friendly.
Food is delicious, very flavorful. I feel like you can never go wrong with any type of Asian cuisine. My new go to for a good curry with lots of flavor.
I ordered the Curry Ramen and it was fantastic. It had large chunks of braised beef, lots of flavor and a beautiful presentation. Definitely plan on returning and trying the Chicken Curry next time.
My first time here. I don't live nearby but would be willing to drive from the westside to go back. I always test a new ramen place by trying the Tonkatsu and it did not disappoint. I asked for firm noodles and the broth was creamy but super flavorful just like the name of the restaurant. Perfect egg, well marinated pork belly chashu. I also tried their signature curry tonk broth and it was a perfect mix of Japanese curry and pork bone broth. I wanna go back to either build my own ramen (4-6pm only) and try various Japanese apps. Apparently the only japanese curry restaurant in Jax so try the curry! You won't be disappointed. Dinner served only.
Absolutely delicious food, beautifully prepared and presented by an extraordinarily pleasant staff.
The food, drinks, atmosphere, and service at this restaurant were beyond amazing! Our server was super nice and had a great conversation with us throughout the meal. Both dishes were packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. Next time we're on this part of town we'll definitely have to come back and try something else from Umami Curry again! The Naruto wall art was also super fun to see!
everything here is amazing!!! the staff rocks and the chef knows his stuff! 10/10 will be here again.
