such delicious food ! great atmosphere, and friendly staff ! Happy to have another vegan place in Jax! highly recommend !!
First time at The Walrus in Murray Hill. Not a vegan but definitely enjoyed the atmosphere & actual sandwich. This this Vegan Turkey on ciabatta - I really loved the walnut pesto. Not pictured, we also ordered a Vegan Club & Electric Banana Smoothie. I would have been really happy but the service was subpar which kind of spoiled it. Despite being first to the bar, the bartender took 3 other orders of individuals who has just walked up before taking ours. When she finally got to us, she got a little lost in the order which is fine. My boyfriend & I are both industry & really understanding. Being Venezuelan, English is his second language & when the bartender was lost he tried to help by pointing to the different items on the menu we wanted thinking it was his English she couldn't understand. She rolled her eyes at him and said "I know where that is on the menu." I thought that was really distasteful. I tried to explain he wasn't trying to be rude but she seemed disinterested from there. I'm ok with slow food and understand that it does take time, however, my boyfriend's smoothie came out after he had already finished his sandwich. I also came back a second time to order another drink and the same bartender made direct eye contact with me 3 to 4 times and walked past before acknowledging me or asking if I had been helped.I hope that she's just new to the biz but I'm definitely still willing to give this growing bar a second shot.
The food was great! The smoothie was amazing and the atmosphere was so fun. Make sure to check out the bathrooms, I know it sounds weird but the art in there is so cool!
Very clean and esthetically pleasing! The staff were amazing and attentive.The food was delicious. A simple VLT was definitely made with care. I swear, I could really taste the care in every bite! Thank you, I'll be back.
Excellent service, fun little hipster joint with vegan Sammy's, beer, smoothies and shots. Cool modern pin ball machines, pool table- slightly awkward from some angles bit charming nonetheless, great vibe and lots of sunshine through the main windows. We had the VLT, VT Rueben and Pesto VT Ciabatta. Everything was made to order and DELICIOUS. And we aren't vegan so this was a big plus. Loved it, 10 stars, will be back!
A shining example of the vision and charm that ONLY small and local businesses can provide.Try to imagine a big corporations or franchised monster company create something like this. It just wouldn't happen.The Walrus has beautiful murals, a Beatles/psychedelia theme, and a unique drink/food offering. They do smoothies, local beers/wines, and vegan food. I found their selection great and curated for the venue.The Walrus also hosts tons of eclectic events for people with all kinds of niche hobbies. Synthesizer meetups, house music nights, open mic, and tons of small local artists. There are also some arcade machines, pool, and a projector where they will often show movies.Incredible addition to the already great Murray Hill district.
Great local spot for smoothies, juices, and vegan food! I love that the smoothies, etc can be as is or you can add alcohol to them.I had the Uncle Albert smoothie and it was delicious.Definitely recommend checking out this place for a chill evening
Hidden gem!!! Amazing experience,comfortable atmosphere, great sandwiches, fresh drinks!!! And me and my wife were shown the utmost hospitality and customer service from Alex! Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice laid back environment that allows you relax, have fun, eat and enjoy.
My first experience did not disappoint!! Already a huge fan of this new and fabulous place. Bennie & Lilly created this masterpiece from scratch. It's authentic and retro to their love of music from the 1960's. Pinball machines. Billiards. All kinds of fun to be enjoyed here, I suspect. Best Smoothie of my life today!! Highly recommend.
