There was an initial waiting period in line, but it wasn't a long wait. The severs weren't very cordial, but NOT rude. The food was excellent, & the portions were very generous!Once seated a (female) dinning room attendant cam over, greeted my party & asked if our orders were satisfactory, and advised that she will be available if we need anything else. Overall my 1st experience with this establishment is very positive & definitely a place I will visit in the future.
The food here is absolutely wonderful! Every item that I tried on the menu exceeded my expectations. Definitely a my go-to whenever I'm in Jacksonville.
For genuine Southern cooking with real soul food flavors in every bite there is no better spot. Do not accept imitations . Be prepared to fall in love with sincere real food prepared by experienced and seasoned cooks tha know exactly what they are doing . Service is pleasant and simple to be efficient . Always a please and thank you with a smile, even when the lines are long. When the fried chicken hits your tongue close your eyes for a second andEnjoy the love that went in to that savory perfect bite. Makes me think of Sunday after church back home .The sides could be your meal so good . Can not forget the corn bread or gravy . The salads are excellent and varied. Desserts should be against the law! My favorites peach cobbler and pound cake . I suggest you do your research here and try it all - not only will you agree you will thank me !!! Enjoy Elaine B Happy Eating .
Best soul food in town. Everything was perfect no complaints. The server she was amazing and had a great personality. Will come again.
Praise, glory and honor to God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessings to the staff for being so patient with me. Mr. Charles was so kind and helpful. When one of the servers told me that they weren't bringing out any more mac n cheese, I went to walk out because I knew my meal wouldn't be complete without it ?. But Mr. Charles stopped me and encouraged me to get something. While I gave him a hard time about the lack of fresh mac n cheese and cornbread (In all fairness, they were closing in an hour), as we stood there, they ended up bringing out a fresh pan of Mac n cheese and fresh fried drummets. Mr. Charles saved the day by stopping me! Be patient! The food is worth it! Delicious everytime. And be patient with the staff; have grace. Side note: The fried porkchops seem to be so good that the lady who was in line behind me came back inside to buy a box full of them after her and her mom took a few bites in the parking lot. The food is great, just be patient with the staff. The fried chicken, cornbread, field peas, mac n cheese and green beans are my faves.
Extremely slow service. Servers attitudes needs improving. May I help you, smile, thank you for coming are things they need to improve on.
The Soul Food Bistro is a soul food restaurant located on Atlantic Blvd. The wait can be long and they are following COVID guidelines. Wear your mask! The food is cafeteria style, and there is dine-in seating available as well as takeout. They have everything from fried chicken, smothered pork chops, and even oxtails. They offer fresh vegetables also. The green beans are one of my favorites. Sometimes the smothered pork chops are hot, a bit too much black pepper. The chicken dressing was very sweet. I did not like it at all. The seafood salad was delicious. The peach cobbler is decent, but I don't really care for any of their desserts. Definitely my go to when I want soul food and don't have time to cook at home.
Finally had a chance to visit the nearby location since they moved a few miles away into the former Outback at Regency. There was a short wait in queue and the back of house line was working like a well oiled machine... Not a surprise since they have the best Oxtails I've had in town! Glad to see, post-pandemic, they are still serving the best local Soul Food on a Sunday morning. Everyone from customers to staff were so friendly and social from enter to exit. Thank you for being a delicious part of the community!
Friendliest service today! Food was on point. Even the Sweet Potato Pie took me back to my childhood days of Ms. Bertha's baking them fresh! It's been awhile since I last went here. In fact they were in a different location. Down there by Kernan Blvd. Anyway, I will be coming back and bringing my son with me. He loves their fried chicken.
Food was delicious! Had the oxtails. They were tender and meaty. Had the fish and shrimp with mac n cheese, greens, and sweet potato souffle. Thank you to Tangie for being an excellent host. She came to our table several times to make sure we were fine, to provide refills and made sure we knew that our patronage was appreciated. Will be returning with family and friends.
