Great food and friendly service!
Went to try out silver star and see what the hype is all about. Still trying to figure it out. We ordered orange chicken and sesame chicken... Same sauce and very little seasoning. Pork ribs and fried rice were also very bland. Definitely premade pork dumplings. Hot oil very boring. Food was all hot and order was correct. Service was friendly and helpful. I personally don't think I will be returning based on the lack of flavor and seasoning.
I’m a bit biased because I love congee and as far as I know, this is the only place with congee in jacksonville! The food overall is pretty decent as well and the prices are fair. Definitely worth a try if you like Chinese food!
Worst food ever served since I've moved to Jacksonville! The restaurant reeks, smells like an old rotten basement. Order general tso chicken and orange chicken to get picked up. As we got home to eat, both chicken dishes were exactly the same item. 3 people later after calling, I'm was told that is the same chicken only difference is green onions on top! Even after explains this is not supposed to be the same chicken the manager said it is and would not give me a refund until I bring the food all the way back to the restaurant! I chose to throw it in the trash because even my dog wouldn't eat it! [email protected]#%ING gross! Save your $$$ people, go somewhere else!
Dim sum is pretty good along with other items not listed on their regular menu like peppercorn fish, steam fish, sautéed beans. Look for the white board for specialty items. Their regular menu items like egg foo young, lo mein, orange chicken,etc are also good and tasty. If you want a Chinese dish that they don’t serve ask for Jack. He’s a good chef who might able to make your dish.
I've been eating here for 25 years or so. I've always enjoyed it. The value is great and the staff is friendly and attentive.
This was my first time ordering from here. I got it to go. The generals chicken was soggy, the rice was like something your teenager would make at home, the dumplings tasted store bought, and the “sweet and sour” was strange. For 2 appetizers and the combo plate, it cost $31. And it was not good.Do what you will with this information.
We always have a meal at Silver Star when we come home to Jax. We love the food, always fresh and delicious. The dim sum is awesome. Service always excellent. We wish we could move them to Atlanta!
Super friendly staff but regrettably not enough employees to handle a lite crowd on a Friday night. Large portions and fair prices just not that good. Inside looks like it hasn't been updated since 1980.
