Rita's Italian Ice (water ice actually as there is nothing Italian about Rita's) is okay as far as water ice goes. It certainly is the best you will find south of Philadelphia (if you want real water ice visit John's Water Ice at 7th and Christian Street in South Philly). The nice thing about Rita's is that the flavors are consistent across the board, whether you buy it in GA, FL, NJ, or wherever. When we visited this location, only the drive thru was open. Although they have a walkup window and a counter inside, it was drive thru only. Not sure if that is all the time or just because we visited close to closing. The service was slow for everyone in front of us. I imagine it was just folks that didn't know what Rita's was and just took a long time to order. After waiting in the drive thru for 20 minutes (I think 5 cars were ahead of us), we got our order promptly, 2 small water ices - a Mango and a Chocolate. The girl at the window was very friendly and the folks filling the order were quick.Since we don't get to Philly as often as I'd like, this Rita's will have to suffice when I need a water ice. I gave 4 stars for how long the drive thru line was. There isn't a lot of room for a drive thru at this location and they really need to use at least the walkup window to reduce the drive thru line.
Growing up my family and I frequented the 3rd street location. Having moved into town, I was bummed to only be able to visit on beach days. Opening up the Hodges location was exactly what is in town Rita lovers needed :-) Awesome variety of flavors and combinations to choose from. They’re very generous with the servings, especially the toppings! Thanks for always being awesome Rita’s!
Passed this place for years and finally decided to try this location. My daughter ordered ice cream and had a spider, yes spider in the middle of her ice cream cup. As she dug her spoon down in the middle and pulled her spoon back out, a small spider was wiggling around on the spoon!!! My child screamed so loud. She almost ate it. Brought her to tears. We took it back. No apology given by staff but they remade her something different without charge. Not sure if I’ll return to this location. The spider kinda ruined me and my other daughters appetite that we didn’t finish our slushees. Also originally they added mango to my daughters ice cream when she never asked for it. When they remade her something different they still tried to give her something totally different than what she asked for which was odd. I gave them a two star for remaking her order after the spider but the damage is done.
Always something wrong here. First the rewards weren’t working; then drive thru only now the drive thru is also closed? Also update open hours because website says open and they are now closed Monday and Tuesday, don’t believe Google hours
Always good service and friendly staff. As someone who used to work at a Rita’s I know it can be hard to stay on your P’s and Q’s due to slow times. But they are always super nice and friendly.
Is this place even open anymore? Visited on a Wednesday afternoon around 2pm. The "Open" lights were flashing. The dining room is closed but sign says drive through is open. Knocked on the drive through window for about 5 minutes. No answer. I called and just got a VM. This place used to be a great place to visit. Now I won't waste my time driving across town again.Goodbye Rita's.
Writing to agree with a review written a few months ago by John. Portion sizes have DEFINITELY changed. Won't bother coming back anymore because it's a waste of money. You can get loaded ice cream down the street for the same amount of money.
Great Custard but it's not cheap. Good group of young people working there.
Food amazing per usual. Customer service not so much sassy and rude. Online says close at 9 hand eritten sign shows 9 on the speaker box. Ask for a large got a small after I paid and didn’t give more. Asked for sprinkles paid for them didn’t get them. When asked for them he said he couldn’t do that even tho I paid for them.
0 stars.. the owner is a total j**** We ordered a gelati, told the flavor 3 times for him to not respond. We even told them apparently they couldn't hear us. Our order wasn't confirmed, so I got straight italian ice without custard. When I tried to get my correct order, I was told to pay an additional $1.25, which I had no problem doing, except I had left a 1.50 tip already... guess they didn't see that part. I asked for the male's name, and was told he was the owner. The attitude he has is no where close to customer service and im not sure how he owns, yet runs a business.
