YES! I was in Jacksonville on business and had a craving for some BBQ and STOKED that I found this place!I'm originally from NY, so certainly not a BBQ connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination, but this still has to be among the best BBQ that I've had, and great portions for the price paid.Would definitely come back here if I'm in town again!
I don’t know how all these great reviews are on here. I wasted $45 on this food! There is no flavor or seasoning whatsoever. I definitely won’t be returning. Bono’s and Four Rivers taste wayyyy better. This was my 1st time too. It was such a disappointment. I had the 2 meat combo with chicken and turkey with Mac n cheese and fries and also the veggie plate. The only side that was decent was the fries and meat had some flavor but that’s it. I hate when I go somewhere with great reviews but it’s a big disappointment.
The worst barbecue I’ve ever eaten. The portions were laughably small, but it didn’t matter because the food was so bad I could barely eat half. Well not all bad, the fries were good and the Mac and cheese was edible. I honestly have no idea how they are still in business.
I have never had hot food here unless I pick up. It always comes from the kitchen luke warm. I wonder if the food is safe since it doesn't come out at a safe temperature.
Last night I had the buttermilk fried chicken and it was perfection. It was some of the best chicken I’ve had in Jax. The black eyed peas, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese was also wonderful. The cornbread was kind of dry and the only low point. Everything else was spot on. Service was fabulous as well.
My husband and I were looking for something different for dinner we came across this place. The food was tasty there onion rings were big and tasty the meats were delicious the chilli had a spicy kick to it. Alana was courteous and very patient with us this was our first time here we enjoyed every bite and minute. The hostess is very pleasant and personable
Great place for some delicious bbq. Recommend the burnt ends appetizer, very flavorful dry rub that dances in your mouth!
Stopped in to get the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Mac n Cheese, Carolina Pork Sandwich with Brunswick Stew. I had high hopes as the reviews looked great. However, the food was mediocre at best. Both sandwiches were loaded with meat which was great however the meat tasted as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for no less than 12 hours and I wouldn't be surprised if it was leftover from the previous day as it was soggy and also rather bland to taste. Their Sweet and Spicy BBQ sauce did help to cover up last night's bad decisions as it seemed that's what I was eating. The Mac n Cheese was not appealing visually but was okay again not amazing and nothing to write home about. Lastly, the Brunswick stew which has been a favorite of mine since I was a child and growing up in the South. This Brunswick stew had no love and even less flavor. If you enjoy bland stew with a small amount of pork and some vegetables then this might be the stew for you. After 2 bites I knew there was nothing special about this stew. It's likely I will not come back for a second time. There are other BBQ joints in the Jacksonville area that are 10 fold better in my opinion. It's my hope that someone from the restaurant sees this post and sees this as constructive criticism and not bashing. The service was prompt and the woman who greeted me when I picked up my order was perky and full of personality and more than accommodating when I asked for extra sauces!
Whenever my wife and I meet our friends in Jacksonville as we travel through the area, we always suggest a meal at MoJo. Our recent lunch there was consistent with all the other times we've enjoyed MoJo. We were greeted and seated right away and spent the first half hour or so getting caught up; we hadn't seen our friends in 2 years due to the pandemic. We finally got around to ordering food, and we're pretty predictable: my wife and I shared pulled pork with mac & cheese and mashed sweet potatoes, and our friends shared a 2-meat plate with pulled pork and turkey, and corn, potato salad and mashed sweet potatoes. One pleasant surprise was finding hand sanitizer pump bottles on each table...nice touch! Our food arrived quickly and everything was outstanding, as usual. Mojo's is the total package: good food, good service. What a great lunchtime experience!
My husband and I came across this place accidentally. We are so glad we did! We wanted to try everything, so we got the whole hog. It was enough food to feed a family of four for $45! The meats we're delicious! They're sides are homemade from scratch. The meats we're very tender and juicy. Beef brisket, chopped pork, smoked turkey, smoked chicken, and ribs. We got the collards, Mac and cheese, fries, and baked beans. All were delicious! It also came with toast and a large piece of jalapeno cornbread. The only negative thing is that their bbq sauces tasted great but are very watery. We will be back!
