Our waitress Catherine’s extremely nice! She’s a true example of southern hospitality!! Here, I ordered the chicken pot pie as a brunch (and orange juice as a drink).The pancakes that my aunt shared with me were really buttery and delicious! Catherine would stop by every 10 minutes to make sure that we were having an excellent dining experience and absolutely nobody at my table was disappointed with anything at all. The chicken pot pie was made with plenty of love and was so creamy! If you happen to be in Jax’s Mandarin district and are looking for an excellent diner, eat at Metro Diner! The best part? You can eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner any time of day!
Good portion for the price. Even the kids meal was a lot of food. They got one order wrong though and my toast and hash browns were burnt ? - ordered from uber eats
We love Metro Diner! It is our favorite to-go breakfast on the weekends. Always quick and the whole family loves it. Portions are huge and the food is delicious.
Family atmosphere. Friendly staff and quick service.The food was hot and quickly served. Attentive staff. It was not very busy on a week day. Plenty of seating and traditional American menu. The restaurant is clean and offers plenty of parking in a what seems a very busy shopping center.

Great place, Food is fantastic and the staff is super nice. You must try the caramel Swirl pancakes?Wow! The best I've ever had! The only drawback is there's a little bit of a wait but they do try to get you in asap. They probably could use a second floor, very popular place.
First, the service at this restaurant is friendly and good. Unfortunately for me I made a bad choice, I chose the French Toast from the board, didn't have on my glasses, saw French Toast with blueberries. In actuality it was banana stuffed French toast with a blueberry hazelnut liquor topping and was totally disgusting. Yes, I know, there is a picture of Guy Fieri there and on the board is the French toast but it was gross. The bananas inside were grayish and mushy and in my world, blueberries and hazelnut just do not go together. I picked around the bananas and berries and did eat the toast itself which was good. My friend had a regular breakfast of eggs, potatoes and biscuit. I also had an add of sausage patties. The biscuit was very dry but the potatoes and sausage were good and it is hard to mess up eggs. Overall, meh...not horrible but not good enough I would go out of my way to go back.
I didn’t eat at the Mandarin location but the Charleston Shrimp & Grits is on the generic menu. It is to be avoided. It is composed of 2 small grit cakes that are dry and inedible. Surrounding them is a white mystery sauce that contains the shrimp and bacon bits. The shrimp have not been grilled but boiled and lack flavor. The entire dish is utterly tasteless and not for grit lovers. Those living in Charleston would be appalled!
We have made several trips here, did dinner and breakfast here now. Loved it every time. Great prices for the food. Delicious food and incredible service. Gluten free options are always beneficial for special diets. We will be back again.
When are they going to recover from covid? Used to be one of my favorites. Had a great menu. I asked when they would go back to it. They keep blaming the quarantine. Are we still in quarantine? Seems to be affecting them more than others. Still very friendly and great service. Bring the old menu back.
