Their food is great and I used to work there. They are very awesome in what they do.
So my husband and I tried Lubi's for the first time. I was definitely expecting more after reading the reviews. These sandwiches are super small, while the pictures look large, but it's a hot dog bun with a little bit of ground beef. I did not like seeing them take the pre-made sandwiches out of the steamer. The bread was soggy and it's just crazy. I had the mozzarella lubi and husband had the chili lubi. The concept is cool but I don't think the price is right for what you get. That's my opinion... that price should include a drink or chips or something. It wasn't even that good. It was ok. Fast forward on the way home I told my husband that it didn't sit right on my stomach. The next day I was sick to my stomach. I don't get the hype but I won't be back either. I was left confused. $10 for a sandwich out of a warmer? Idk it seems enough people enjoy it to keep it afloat, to each is own.

I'm a Jacksonville native and grew up eating Lubi's. My husband just went and grabbed us a late lunch. Ordered 2 mozzarella Lubi's without sauce for kids, 2 as the come (according to menu and decades of ordering have meat, sauce, sour cream and mozzarella), and 2 stroganoff (again according to menu and decades ordering it is meat, mushroom gravy and sour cream). First, sauce on all of them. Second, every single one of them was filled with jalapenos! Definitely not "how they come", as my husband told them! Even the kids ones!I call to talk to manager and get a young guy named Joseph. I'm trying to talk to him. Explain situation. He interrupts me, screaming that my husband said to add tomatoes, lettuce, mayo, onion and peppers to all of them. Btw if so, he messed them up because were only filled with jalapenos! When I go to respond saying he would NOT add any of that, he continues interrupting and screaming at me. I finally hung up. Absolutely appalling behavior! The sad part is that after a lifetime of enjoying Lubi's, I cannot do so anymore, if this is they're new customer service! Even sadder? That Jacksonville will lose this iconic restaurant because this behavior will shut them down!!Now, I'm going to go back to my youngest and my grandchild to make sure they're okay after puking because of the jalapenos on their sandwiches!! Could have dealt with this over the phone sadly. Way to go Joseph!
Asked for light mayo, got about 1/2 cup dumped on top of meat like a sauce. Took 3 napkins to get the mayo off so it was edible. Asked for a specific sandwich, pointed to the one on the menu - got meat and mayo, no cheese, no onions, jalapeno . Won't be back - staff more interested in phones and talking to each other in back room.
I used to make the Lubis on University a weekly stop when I worked out of Jax. Have to say a recent visit to the Beach Blvd location was less than pleasing. The Marinara on the Lubis special certainly came from a can. The Cherry Limeade which I used to love was so sweet I couldn't finish it. Everything used to be homemade. Very disappointed. Mama Lubi would be very unhappy.
I miss having luby's over here on the South side on University. Unfortunately once the lady who owned it died and her son took over it turned into a disgustingly gross grossness BUT let me tell you this lubis is a redemption!!My dad brought me to luby's as a little girl and he had no idea that they even had one over here, he was so excited to find out and the fact that the food here is always on point, the limeades are yum!Thank you movies for bringing back those childhood memories of hanging out with my dad and getting them mozzarella lubi that actually tasted good!! If you have to eat it with a fork you know it's good!
I must admit that I am a fan of Lubi’s since the late 1970’sI had never had anything like a sloppy Joe with red sauce and sour cream. I giant limeade rounded everything off. When I was a kid the only Lubi’s in town was over on University Blvd. I thought it was such a treat to go get one when we happened to be a million miles from home on the south side of town.I love to go inside on Sunday morning and have eggs over easy, grits smoked link sausage and home fries. What a great country breakfast.Congratulations to Nick for keeping the Beach Blvd location going and my hat is off to you for the wonderful job on the facelift inside.❤️Congratulations, great job ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We used to go to Lubi's on University and on Sunbeam for years. When they closed I thought all of them were closed. Two weeks ago I found out the one on Beach blvd was still open. I went today and got the mozzarella Lubi's, with hot peppers of course. Wonderful! Quality has not changed over 20 years. They also have cherry limeade. I will continue going now that I know it is still around.
I thought I remembered how wonderful Lubi's food is. I took my husband here on a whim, and the food was even better than I remembered. Amazing flavors, great service. I'm so glad this restaurant is still here.
