Terrible experience. Chef was great, food was okay. Scallops were not real scallops, they were swordfish and chewy. They now have a “10% inflation charge” added to your checks. Along with a 10% gratuity added after they add the inflation charge to get a higher tip. No where on the menu does it say inflation charge. We came for my birthday. You get $22.95 off your meal when it’s YOUR birthday. So I ordered scallops and filet (thinking I was going to get a $22.95 discount) Bc it says on the menu “can order at equivalent cost or higher”. My husband ordered the chicken, it was $20. When we got our check they decided to give him his meal for free and only take $20 off our check. I explained that the menu said $22.95 off the birthday persons meal. They argued with me and said no it’s off the cheapest meal. So they went and “changed” our check. Instead of taking the $22.95 off of my meal, they raised my husbands meal to $22.95 and then took off $22.95. Even when his meal was only $29. They proceeded to say that “the rule” is you only get the birthday deal if you purchase another meal at $22.95. Therefore since my husbands meal was $20, we didn’t qualify. What a shame to lose loyal customers over a few dollars and bad business. Attached is our friends check, $47 for a $32 check.

I love Kanki. My family and I have been going there for almost 20 years. The food has always been amazing, the performances are fantastic. They’ve always been so friendly and accommodating. Only complaint would be menu prices rising but given the current economic environment, I can’t blame them. I hope they’re open for another 20+ years!

Buyers beware of their “15% temporary surcharge” that appears on the bill at the end of the meal. We asked the server what it was and he said it not included gratuity that he receives, it is simply because products are more expensive and they have added a temporary surcharge. In that case, they need to change the prices on their menu as the menu prices are not reflective of what you pay when you receive the bill. Additionally, when we spoke to the manager, she said it’s supposed to be 10% not 15% as if she was doing us a favor and giving us a discount. We refused to pay for it, they finally removed it from the bill, and we urged the manager to please update their menu pricing to reflect this to prevent issues in the future. In addition to this, the male bartender with blondish hair and kind of a mullet hair cut (can’t remember his name) was completely rude and unprofessional. He definitely needs to find a different industry to work in because he made us feel completely unwelcome and as if we were inconveniencing him by asking for a drink at his bar. We walked in and were told there was 15min wait so we decided to sit at the bar for a drink before dinner. We waited about 10min and finally went to ask the host if there was someone who could offer us a drink while we waited. Meanwhile, servers were coming back and forth behind the bar and not a single person greeted us. The bartender finally arrived and greeted us we asked about their sake selection. He said “we have hot, that’s it”, come to find out later on the menu there are other options. He made us feel like an inconvenience asking for a drink. Later at the table, since they are short staffed, the service staff hadn’t stopped by for a while and my husband needed a drink. He walked to the bar and asked for a drink and the bartender said “if you are sitting at a table you need to order from your server”. My husband said well can I just pay you for a beer here at the bar and the bartender replies “I guess”. Overall, the food was good and the chef Brian was very nice and entertaining and the server Cesar was nice as well although when we brought up issues with the bartender and then issues with the 15% surcharge, they clearly knew about these issues and made comments acknowledging the overall staff and management issues. We made sure to tip the server and chef in cash and handed it directly to them to ensure they were paid properly as it was clearly the owners are doing some shady stuff. No wonder there are staff needed signs on the door. The owners are clearly not making sure their staff are well taking care of and staff are likely being under tipped as when clients see 15% surcharge they most likely assume it is gratuity going to the service staff when in reality it is going into the owners pocket! Will absolutely giving my money to this establishment.

Great restaurant yes they are short handed like everyone else! You have to go anywhere anymore with more patience! They are doing the best they can they only have two chefs for hibachi! Always make a reservation if u know ur going to go!! The food is always great! We have never had a bad experience! We appreciate people that are working these days?

Very nice facility with great food and service. No wait with reservation. Free birthday meal. I had chicken and shrimp normally $24.00. Enough food for two meals. Great show and comedy by the chef. Great waiter. Nice dining room with an atrium. Everyone in my party of 6 was very pleased even a picky teenage daughter. Highly recommended. Will go back.

Always enjoy dinner here, the chef is very entertaining. Prices have increased tremendously since last year, that was only negative.

The Rum Runner was perfect & all the food was delicious! The server told us we couldn't order sushi due to a staff member calling in sick. However, we saw several people order & get served sushi. We thought that was strange. Overall, very good.

Went here on my birthday! You recieve a free meal up to 22.95 with proof of your birthdate. The food and atmosphere is absolutely amazing. I would choose them over any other Japanese place.
