This place is awesome!! Had family in town to visit for Mother's Day and after looking for an authentic place for Mexican food, we chose El Tapatio. We were so glad we did. We ordered some beers and my sister and I (having kids) were given a free beer, along with a beautiful red rose, and also a free delicious dessert. We were very surprised with how friendly the waitresses were and how catering they were to our table. Now for the food. The best part! We ordered a good amount of different things to try and they were all amazing! The meat had so much flavor, and anything we needed we were given very quickly. The chips were hot and fresh, the salsa is delicious and full of flavor with a hint of spice. The red sauce that is brought to the table with food is AMAZING and spicy! Paired perfectly with our food! The portion sizes were huge for the price as well.My family can't wait to visit again just to come back to this restaurant. It is hidden but well worth it!!

My gf and I have been coming here sometimes weekly since she got pregnant. Now our almost 2 years old eat with us here too. Excellent service, amazing food and imported beer. 5/5

The service is terrible here. I usually don’t complain, but they’ve made my order completely incorrectly several times. Also, they just refuse to do something simple, like add mushrooms to a dish; I don’t eat meat, but have been refused the option to add them to literally anything, despite mushrooms being on the menu elsewhere. I’m not even asking for them for free; I’m willing to pay! So, I simply don’t get it. The only reason I continue to come here is to go with my family.

Tonight was my boyfriend and I’s first time, and it did not disappoint! The staff was very friendly! Even the locals suggested some awesome food for us.All of our food was ready in less than 10 minutes! Very impressive! It all tasted awesome and the price was very good too.We will be back! Thank you so much! ?❤️✨

I really enjoy this place. Its situated in a desolate strip mall across from a trailer park. The food is very authentic. I simply cannot find Menudo soup very often and they do it very well. Its been about 5 years I have been coming here. Not very often, however, when I walk in, the waitress simply looks at me and asks "Menudo, Diet Coke?" and I nod and that's its. The place is usually full of Hispanic men in high visibility clothing. There is a Juke box which may become the bane of your existence because they will crank loud music out of it. There is Soccer on the TV in Spanish and never has there been anything else. The salsa is always really fresh. You can taste individual ingredients. They have the rare "Chelada" or "Chevala" beer where they mix in clamato or V8 and beer with some other ingredients. Really a good eat. Never had any issues with attitudes or drunk people or crime right outside. I think its a diamond in the rough.

Great food but can never place a pickup order because nobody speaks attempts to speak english. Called to place a pickup order man on the phones greeted me in Spanish and I told him what I wanted in English and I heard a mutter and he hung up the phone. Called the restaurant back 2 time on my phone and my girlfriends phone and no answer. Very unprofessional.

Food and service was amazing! We had the seafood soup with a whole tilapia inside of it ? I had the menudo it was fresh and both were good portions for the price, I wish the menudo did have some pig feet in it tho because with love sucking on the bones ? I also had the tripe tacos (intestines) I ordered it crispy and they were delicious and also a large portion! We drove a little ways to come here and we will definitely making it our go to for all of our Mexican food cravings

It took us a long time to find a Mexican restaurant in Jacksonville that we like, but we finally did after about three years of living here. We have been coming here for about four years now and it just gets better! They have authentic Mexican, and Mexican/American dishes. They are also willing to customize dishes whenever we go. There is a bit of a language barrier every now and then with a waitress or waiter but they are always patient and very willing to ask for clarificat

It's a good place if you Mexican since they tret their own better I went to eat and left me at the door but they sat the two guys behind me for they were Mexican lady stated she couldn't understand what I was saying even though I was talking in Spanish wonder why maybe I should of said I was Mexican I don't know

Great food here and reasonably priced for your portions! Patricia was our server and she was great! She gave us some packs of gum at the end which was nice because most Mexican restaurants make you pay for those little gum packs by the register. Sweet tea was super good too! I got the fajitas nachos and I was very satisfied. Eat here!!
