Nice people, good food and experience ?
Sorry no photos. If you are not accustomed to being flexible and enjoying a different experience then this isn't for you. This historical place is covered in photos from the past of famous guest from days gone by. The owner and chef is a one man show. The day we visited it was cafeteria style. We had chicken piccata and meat lasagna both were delicious. The garlic bread was complimentary and also yummy.
Very cozy Mom n Pop joint. True Italian food. Conversation is difficult so definitely have patience and insure they understand what You really want or Freddie will provide with His choices. Not bad choices but like I don't eat pork and it was on my plate. Tortellini is excellent unfortunately ? it had pork. The shrimp picatta was meh, if the shrimp was cooked better definitely would have been perfection. The Chicken Bianco was deelish, chicken was made so tender n moist. We actually ordered 2 to go. This family style restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
I don't normally leave reviews but I had to because I have never been yelled at to get out of a restaurant before. I'm normally a quite person and try to be as polite as possible to weight staff cause I know the pain. I made an order online to come and pick it up. I loved this place during quarantine and the staff seemed nice back then. But today was different. I come in and a guy in front of me gets yelled at to leave and he was just standing there quietly. Then I ask about my order and he yells at me in the middle of the restaurant. I put my hands up calmingly but apparently I wasn't fast enough so I just scurried out of there hoping he wouldn't throw the bread sticks he was holding at me. He was so aggressive for no reason. And he wasn't taking online orders cause he had his tablet off or something. Basically I have never been so aggressively disrespected as a customer before and will not be coming back.
Italian cuisine was served in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Great service time. The restaurant was a little crowded which is good. Regular customers were excited to enjoy lunch. I ordered a coffee and a cheese pizza to begin with. Coffee was strong and tasted okay. The cheese pizza was a major hit from the maturity of the cheese to the garlic flavored crust. I also ordered the spinach lasagna and the eggplant parmesan ,which I have photos of below. There is a decorated bar with posters and iconic moments and people. Public restrooms are available.
Only food available was what was cooked earlier &served cafeteria style. Spaghetti was precooked, unsauced & sitting out so it was cold & dried & hard around the edges. Ladled sauce over the nasty pasta instead of dressing the spaghetti when first cooked. Spinach lasagna was greasy, salty & over cooked. After we got back to our hotel we took a few bites & threw out $30 worth of food.
My coworker spoke very highly of this place since I began working in the area. We decided to order from them via DoorDash. While awaiting our order she told me the driver stated that the system wasn't working and that she needed to cancel the order. I then asked her "so they didn't cancel the order? I'll just go pick it up then." She tried to be proactive and reorder for pick up. I walking in and said to the gentleman (who was anything but gentle). "Hello I'm here to pick up an order for Jen" (my coworker's name) He then said to me. "I don't have anything, I haven't gotten any orders" while he point at a tablet. Then I said okay May I just place my order. Then he yelled at me saying "I don't have cannoli! That's why I cancelled the order!" I was like okay so you did get the order. So I said I've never been here before May I have a menu or could you tell me what you do have. And he said "I'm trying to get ready for a party! Everything I have is right there!" As he pointed to a buffet displace. I told him I had to call my coworker to see what else she'd like. I stepped out to call my coworker and two young ladies walked up to the door but could get in. He had locked the door. I'm still in shock over the situation. That was the nastiest I've ever been treated at a restaurant. Or any customer service driven establishment really. I can't fathom how he'd still be in business treating people like that. If I could post this with no stars, I would.
Found this place walking in the rain downtown. The pizza smelled glorious from two blocks away. I was welcomed in and my order was take promptly. I decided to stay and eat in. It was so peaceful, soft music, the rain and great food. Definitely going back. Often
? It was one of the very few places opened after 9pm.?Pizza was good! Specifically Meat Lowers pizza.?? Stuff was very friendly and helpful! And it looks like bunch of famous people visited this place, given how many autographs they have on the walls.
My new favorite Italian place in town. Freddy might be a busy guy but, they make great food and the atmosphere is amazing! Loved the Marsala and Chicken Parm. My Wife's Picatta was the best we've had. Will definitely be back. I hear the Grouper Lasagna is to die for, I'll let the phone eat first next time!
