Aight so boom was on Dunn Ave got a little hungry. Found this spot in the plaza called Caribbean Paradise Restaurant was hesitant to try but on this day the wife actually knew what she wanted to eat (had to be a sign from god). So I ordered two of their 6 or 7.50 lunch specials. I got curry chicken with rice and peas and a grape soda (hood classic drink). The wife had brown stew chicken, yellow rice and a MTN Dew. Also ordered but not pictured a curry chicken patty and a spinach patty. We are die hard Spices Caribbean fans but I must say this place tasted closer to what we tasted when we visited the Caribbean than Spices did. You got the kick of the spices and peppers in the curry sauce, which was not too thick just right to coat the chicken and rice. The brown stew here was more savory than Spices. Spices brown stew tends to have a sweet note and be less moist, where here it was savory and saucy. The Pattie’s were ok to me but the wife loved them. Overall I give this place 9/10 based on customer service, pricing vs portion, and wait time on the order. I’m looking to try more of their dishes.
They are theives!!!I called and asked if there was red snapper and just do not understand why any business owner would just serve me a dried fishhead and no body of meat (pic will be added)/// I called why would you lie? why wouldnt you just say you are out of fish-- that was real desparate--- and I paid yall a 7.00 tip--- only to get frauded ---I will not trust my FBA/native Black dollars with this immigrated business in my homeland again--- this business is messed up....I wont be buying from nasty disrespectful business that have such a low standard in what they serve Black natives in Duval County-shame on you !!!and reap from doing horrible bad business. Shut down now!!
Disgusting food, meat 3/5 times was old and smelled as well as tasted spoiled. White rice made with minute rice not jasmine rices which if you know is a completely different experience. Customer service lacks understanding and respect once you make your payment, have given this restaurant a chance multiple times and I've reached my breaking point and want to make others aware, don't waste your time. Highly recommend Jamaican places like The Pepper pot on Northside or Spices Caribbean off Arlington. For some real good food try Beignets also on Southside wonderful Haitian food.
The food was too expensive the taste was okay. The drinks were too sweet and I did not care for the service. Nothing really extraordinary about this establishment. I will not be going back
1st time getting the Curry Chicken plate here and the food was amazing! My online knock was that I was missing my Fried Plantains.
Great food, great people. Just need them to move the register (payment process) closer to the window to make the operation a little more efficient. The cashier should not have to run back and forth from the ordering window to the register. Also, make a separate window for picking orders up. I waited 10mins in the order/pickup line although I pre-ordered and received a text that my meal was ready.
Delicious, tried the jerk chicken plate with rice and cabbage and it was very flavorful with lots of spice and heat! ?The portions were good for the price. Will definitely be back.
Oxtails were savory and well seasoned, but I would have liked a bit more meat considering how much rice there was. All in all, I'd order from them again.
I absolutely love this place. If you go to any other Caribbean restaurant, you don’t know Caribbean food.
I've eating here a couple times. All I ever get is the oxtails and sometimes they're burnt or not even done. let's just say it's best to ride on down a little further to Caribbean sunrise on main Street, oxtails tell waayyyy better! Just my honest opinion.
