It was my first visit to Bistro Aix in more than 3 years. Everything was lovely except the food. We ordered the 3 course dinner special. The main course arrived seriously overcooked. The waiter felt very badly about it and gladly brought us generous portions of the shrimp which was inedible in the original presentation. Kitchen mistake was corrected by the waiter, but no five stars this time.
Bistro Aix has been a staple but seems to have declined. Food was average. Mussels were over cooked and very little broth in the dish. Crab cakes were overly salty and were bitter (preparation was off..perhaps lemon added to early?). Sent the crab cakes back and the server graciously took them off the bill.
After having waited over 30 minutes for our first cocktail I wondered what could possibly make us return to Bistro Aix. But after the amazing French onion soup and extraordinary rack of lamb, expertly prepared and presented, I had my answer. Yes, the bar service delay needs fixing right away, but otherwise the experience, including our server, Brianna, was simply terrific.
The food was fantastic. I had the ribeye special wife had the filet both cooked perfectly and had great flavor. We especially loved the berry crostata with ice cream was so delicious
Cocktails were delicious. Food came quickly and hot, which is a plus!! Service staff very attentive and informative about status of order. Will definitely return.
Our server, Bree, was amazing. My son truly enjoyed the duck and scallop combination entree. My daughter loved the Summer Special: the salad was huge and the entree of crab crusted grouper was delicious. The desserts were also wonderful.
First time back to Bistro Aix in several years. Now I remember why I liked it so much. Great food and service. I had the seasonal special which included a salad, entree, and dessert and was very reasonably priced for the quality.
Tuna nicoise salad - not so great. Tuna was over cooked, dry and somewhat unseasoned. Mussels were absolutely devine, as was the steak frites. Tuna tartare was not fresh and chicken dish was not so good.
Very good vibe to the place and is a perfect date spot. The menu had amazing options, but I highly recommend the steak frites plate. Extensive wine menu as well.
Some hits and some misses. Excellent staff and service. Stopped for a drink in the bar before dinner, was an average experience. A bit of extra care and service in the bar would make this place sing 3.5 star
