I'm just going to say that even though this cake would've ruined my birthday, it was for my mother. We have been buying her birthday cakes from Annie Lee's since 2013. Covid and cancer caused a pause for the last 2 years. They even made my sister's wedding cake!So when my ol' lady said she wanted a lemon poundcake, I knew just the place to get it.Well. The cake.was not ready at the requested time. The reason "the diner side got busy" so my cake burnt. Fine...another was made and another time was provided (after closing). Called before I came as advised, got hung up on. Went anyway and had to wait. The cake was also burnt, crumbling and separating from the bottom. What professional bakery gives someone a hot cake in a cardboard box?!Dry, crumbly, flavorless...my mom had to saw into it to slice it. I'm embarrassed that I presented that to my mother on her birthday.Edited: I appreciate the owner responding to my review. I immediately tried to call back and was hung up on. Once I finally was able to speak to someone...they advised the person I needed to speak to was not there and hung up. No one even attempted to take my information. I feel like I was more than patient (when the first cake burnt and no one called to let me know that it would not be ready)Edited: I appreciate the owner responding but I did give them an opportunity to correct. I called immediately after looking at the cake. The first time, I was hung up on. The second time, someone advised "the person you need to speak to aint here". Click. I thought I was more than patient when no one bothered to call me beforehand to tell me the cake burnt and they needed more time to make another. I travelled all the way from Orange Park!! Then tried to get me to pick up a cake the next day...nah my mama's birthday guests were at a planned event waiting for cake that was pre-ordered. I shouldn't have paid for the cake and left it right there but I like to give ppl chances to fix their mistakes. But...I wont be using this bakery or recommending it to anyone going forward.
My friend and I go at least once a week. The food and the service is always very good.If you're looking for somewhere to get good soul food go to Annie Lee's Diner after Church on Sunday. They are open Wed. --Sunday
Last Thursday, we decided to try out this cute little soul food restaurant (with a dessert bakery too). Great food, service and ambiance; we'll be back...
Annie Lee's Bakery!! If i cud give 10 stars, i would!! So, Where do i start..ok the caking with a twist was Friday before mothers day and was the absolute BOMB!! They provided a 3 layer cake that we had to decorate ourselves they also provided the decorations..lots of fun..then our family went back for mothers days and when i tell you everything was good!!! ALL THE FOOD was GOOD and the sweet tea was perfect! I usually only drink water..Ms. Annie Lee and her team including Mr. Leroy who invited us to come, was all awesome. And the place was white glove CLEAN!!!
We wanted some southern comfort food and dessert and Annie Lee’s showed up as highly rated on Google. All I can say is WOW!!! This was the best fried fish, pork chops, green beans, macaroni and cheese and collards we have had in a very long time! Not to mention all of the beautiful desserts!Amazing staff, beautiful restaurant. We will be back!
Cake was burnt and you cant help but to see it and yet they still slice , box and sold it . I would of been better off just getting more corn bread, Greens was good, the can yams was ok, but the turkey wing was dry .. The gal with the long weave who was taking orders was very rude just a nasty attitude. It was early on Sunday to be acting like that .she should of stayed home if she didn't feel like working today. I'm taking the cake back soon as they open again. They was dead wrong for that especially being a bakery. That was slap in the face
I accidentally stumbled upon this place It's a real nice setup and customer service is really great.I ordered a hamburger and fries and you can tell the ingredients are of really good quality, but the "cook" went overboard with the amount of salt that was on both items, almost uneatable. It was taken to go and I was on my lunch break so I didn't have time to go back and get a refund.
Man the smothered pork chops are sooo tender and delicious. The Mac and cheese is on point. Lima beans were really good. I didn't care for the collards.

I have been craving a real key lime cake. It's hard to find it here in Duval. Heard about this place and had to give it a try. The desserts are exactly what I was looking for. Great prices and huge portions. I purchased a key lime slice, pound cake and strawberry. They were all delicious. I was in a bit of a hurry but I will be returning to try the diner. The atmosphere was on point.
