Prices extremely too high for the quantity and quality of food. 20% Tips included per person and our waitress did not deserve a damn near $200 tip. We waited o er an hour for food and the place was not full at all! After waiting so long and that was just for the appetizers, soup and salads, we had to ask for bread. Just a very disappointing experience.
Second visit to Gusto. The first was a couple years ago and so we decided to eat here again. We both had salads and Italian wedding soup to start. Soup had bland tiny meatballs with not much pasta and no spinach. My salmon was overcooked and the roasted veg were crisp almost raw. The lasagna was the worst we have ever tasted. About 3 or 4 layers of pasta with nothing between. There was cheese on top and burnt on bottom but there was a strange taste we could not identify. The marinara alone tasted fine. Needless to say we will not return.
This place is without a doubt a must for authentic Italian food. The meatball appetizer was amazing as was the sausage. They are one of a few Italian Restaurants that I know if that offers gluten free pasta. I had the Oso Bucco and it was one of the best I have ever had and I've had Oso Bucco in Spain. The service was on point very courteous and attentive. My family and I had a great time. There is also live music.
Reserved a table last night to see the band Mandala. While seated we ordered $127 worth of appetizers and drinks. The waitress came up and asked us if we wanted to order any entrees and we said we were full from the appetizers but still planned on staying longer to drink and dance. She then said it’s required to order an entree per person or they charge a $20 surcharge per person! So even though we each ordered the giant meatball, caprese salad, bruchette, several mixed drinks, wine, etc. We still ordered entrees that neither of us ate to avoid the surcharge. I completely understand requiring a minimum purchase. It’s a business and they need to make their money. My suggestion would be instead of making each person order an entree, maybe require each person spend $20 plus. I feel like that would make more sense. I more often than not order several appetizers as my entree at almost every restaurant I go to and most of the time they cost more than if I would have just ordered an entree. Second, honestly the woman that runs the place doesn’t seem to value her customers. She’s not very personable. There was another table celebrating a birthday and she wanted to charge them $10 to bring in their own cake! They brought in about a dozen people, ordering food and drinks and you want to charge them $10 to bring in their cake? I was shocked. It’s not about the money it’s the principle. I ended up following the band on Instagram and will just watch them play at other more welcoming establishments.
Don’t listen to the Karen’s that gave this place a 1 star, they’re just salty for no reason and complaining because they didn’t get their way when they were in the wrong. This place is honestly one of the best Italian restaurants here in Jax. The owner is super nice, and the place is clean. Great entertainment some nights by the way! Definitely come here for great food and a great time!
We reserved a table on Friday night for 5. We order food and drink and noticed a sign on the table that if you don't order an entrée you are charged a 25.00 service fee per person. Later in the night some unplanned acquaintances showed up and temporary sat at our table after they bought drinks at the bar. Without warning a 20 percent gratuity was tacked on to our bill. The owner refused to come over and explain why this was so. We went to speak with him and he was a total jerk to us and and told the waitresses not to serve us. My opinion, don't go to to this restaurant were the owner doesn't appreciate his customers. There are better Italian restaurants in the area.
If you want to have a bad experience just go there to Gusto Italian cusine. From 1 to 10 it got 0. !!! All dishes are very bad only pizza are ok to be honest.Don’t go there , and you will regret when waiter brings you the bill.
Fantastic!! The food was Delicious and the staff was kind. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and professional.
Was a loyal customer for months. They heard “carbonara” and not “Montonara” over the phone so they put in the wrong order. They would only discount $5 off the $19 meal for THEIR mistake. I disputed that with the bartender and he explained “he didn’t make the rules.” The owner acted like he didn’t care at all if I was unhappy. I payed the $14 for the wrong food because I didn’t want to wait “another 25 minutes” to get the right order and, honestly, it wasn’t good. I’m sad I won’t be going back there but even more sad they showed no empathy or customer service to a regular.EDIT: I see the owner has replied and twisted what happened. I did NOT want the carbonara and made that very clear. I wanted my food but they said it would be a 25 minute wait or $5 off. I said if I still have to pay $15 for this carbonara I will never come back here again and they did not care after hearing those words. The bartender told the owner I said this after he would only comp it $5. Those were my choices and I have a family to feed (I ordered more than the Montana’s and gladly payed for the rest). A good restaurant would have comped the ONE meal off…not the entire order…Happily! That IS how it works actually. And the carbonara was not good…it was very lumpy.
I didn’t like the food at all. I ordered pasta with bolognese sauce and they gave me tomatoes sauce. The chair was sticky when I arrived and had to ask someone to clean it.I will not be coming back to this place. If you think I’m upset because we didn’t get another table you are completely wrong. You said they were “reserved” which obviously they were not, so please stop lying. I believe you said that those table was only available if you only everyone on your table eats a main course… hmmm I guess you were trying to force us to spend more money on your restaurant. But based on a previous review that’s your thing. Also, I come from a Italian family and know about sauces which yours was too acid. And since you were so pitiful to even look which was my table, you are well aware that I sat right in front of your pizza maker. Next time you may want to tell him to stop grabbing his phone with his bare hands and touch the bread afterward without washing them…Now, who should be ashamed?? I think the person who is a liar and the person who hires people that don’t wash their hands before touching the food.
