The food is excellent! Love the vibe. Super chill and almost reminds us of Australia. The portions are large so we could easily split.
This girl finally had a taste of gator! We stopped in here after our airboat ride in the Everglades. It's right up the street. Gravel parking lot. Outdoor seating only, picnic tables, trash receptacles, covered seating. Clean. Prices are a tad high, but you have to look where you're at. Service was friendly and our order didn't take long. We ordered a grilled cheese, and a gator bite basket, which came with grilled gator, fries and coleslaw. Gator was pretty good! Kind of chewy, but no gamey flavor. Definitely recommend!
I stopped by this place during my travel to Key West. I have to admit, when I first got my food, I was disappointed at the portion. We ordered the gator bites, which is about $12 for 7 small pieces, and gator tacos, which was about $17 for three small tacos. However, when I tasted them, I automatically understood why the price seemed high for the portion. Both were just delicious! This place is one of the few restaurants that sells grilled gator meat instead of the fried ones that you typically see. Some places have gator meat that's the size of your fingernail, and make it into a round fried ball. However, you just get authentic gator meat at this place. 5 stars for food, service, and atmosphere (though the outdoor dining has a lot of mosquitoes and insects that bite, so beware for that). The staff members were friendly - they greeted us kindly and came out to hand us our takeout. I will definitely return when I'm back in the area!
Great Gator Bites and very good service thank you. ?
The food was really good. Ive had gator before and this is the best I've ever had. Usually it had been really grisly, this restaurant definitely knows what they are doing with it. Their fish is fresh, the chowder and chilli is amazing. Everything we ordered has been good. Would definitely recommend.
We stopped in excited to try this small joint as it was the closest place to grab a bite after our gator adventure. At first glance, the place is tiny and has no inside seating area. You can sit outside or take the food to go. The gent that took our order was nice and patient as we were scanning the menu. We grabbed a few items — burgers, frog legs, and gator bites. $70 worth of food for a party of 4. The burger was ok nothing to brag about. You pick your own toppings. The bun was blah — maybe if they toasted it or use a better bun it would elevate it. No sides come with this. The gator bites were ok. Note these are not fried as most other places fry them. It comes with a side sauce to dip them. No sides come with this. The frog legs come on top of a bed of yellow rice. They were not the best (IMO). They are also not fried and the I could not get past the view — they are from the waist down presented on top of the rice. There was some type of oily sauce thrown on top. Probably not a place I would visit again.
Great shakes and smoothies, lots of very large and exotic fruits. A very large variety of sauces, honey. And spice blends. Every type of peanut, including fresh boiled.
We loved our experience here. The atmosphere is so fun. Beautiful murals and family feel. Shaded, breezy and comfortable tiki hut to eat under. The staff was very polite and helpful. They clearly have a chef that takes pride in his work. This was the best gator and fried pickles we have ever had. I’m very thankful we stopped for this flavor experience. You need to try this place!
I was a little sceptical about the grilled gator, but it turned out it was pretty good. Absolutely worth the try and this place is a must to visit. Their fries is the best I've tasted.
If you are looking for a quick stop for some delicious burger or gator grill this is the place for you. #Homestead #Food #Miami
