Cheese streaks are fantastic had the 90 with cheese and mushrooms, mushrooms appeared canned but wonderful flavor of everything else. Friendly and helpful staff. Skip the garlic knots, good but takes over the meal.
We were visiting family and stopped by to have a bite to eat. My wife had grown up in the area and was familiar with Sonny's.The sandwiches we ordered were very delicious. They were stuffed full of meat, cheeses, etc. Very nice place to dine. ?
I’ve been going to Sonny’s since I was a little girl, since 1966.John ( son) took over when his dad passed. The tradition carried on. The best part is you don’t have to go to Philly to get the best steak hoagies, you can get it right here in Hollywood!Think about this, you turn the corner and roll your window down, you can smell the steak cooking.Imagine the hoagies are made daily at 4 am.Over the years I’ve ventured out a bit and have ordered more than the steak or as its referred to as a # 90.My favorites is # 90, steak, mozzarella and heavy sautéed onions with homemade marinara on the side.I get a plain hoagie roll so ever so soft inside and just the right crisp outside and served with real grade A butter.My brother Sig and I have been going a lot this year.Sig has ventured out and gotten the hot ham and cheese, huge Gorgonzola salad, chef salad, and the best hamburger hoagie, very messy but oh so good.After 4 pm you can order a hoagie with melted butter and garlic, it’s just that good.Sonny’s is just that good that they were featured on Guy Fierre’s, diners, drive in’s and dives, 3 times.And recently was a special guest of Guy’s at the wine and food festival in South Beach.Sonny’s is authentic as it gets!
Being a Jersey Girl&living outside of Philadelphia, Sonny's is very good! I'm not an avid red meat fan, but I can tell you that it was one of the best steak sandwiches I have had in a long time. Made to order fresh tasting, meat had good marbling but not fatty with gristle. The homemade rolls were fantastic! Yes- paying with cash is what they accept. The first thing you should ask ANYWHERE, is do you take credit cards because they are not the only establishment that takes just cash?♀️
Am from Boston and staying in Pompano. Was craving for a good steak and cheese. Had one up this area couple of weeks ago but was disappointed.Decided to venture down to Hollywood after reading all the great reviews to Sonny's. It was worth the drive! Tge roll was stuffed fulland and the meat was tender and tasty. The place definitely lives up to the hype! People working the counter were also very friendly and helpful.Thanks I will be back for sure
We have been eating at Sonny's for many years. Has always been very good until now. Steak was taste less and very chewy. I don't know if the vendor has changed for some reason or if the restaurant has cheeped out on the steak. Was NOT worthy of triple D mention on Tuesday Feb first. Will not be ordering from Sonny's for a while. Hopefully they go back to the thinly sliced original ribeye. We were so disappointed!
Haydee cooks our cheese steaks and is the overall best!! We love this restaurant and love her! Have been coming here for years. Definitely is our go to place. Great service and great prices, even better food!!
I have been eating here since 1975. Hollywood is not Philly so don't expect to make this unrealistic comparison. This eatery is in the heart of west Hollywood: home of the original South Florida Red Necks. And his restaurant is small but always sets the stage for a revisit to return for another Philly Cheese sandwich. Don’t expect anything but good, tasty food that will make you feel you should have ordered more to eat after you finish eating it. It was delicious and tasty in ’75 and it is still the same ole sandwich today when I had lunch. No more, no less. Just plain old comfort food for real Americans who faught for their country and made it back here to by proud of their contribution to Freedom. Sonny’s sandwich is ALWAYS my comfort food and that of my family as well.
