We randomly stopped here otw home to AL from seeing my family in FL. We didn't want typical fast food but didn't have the time to stop & sit anywhere. This place had a drive thru so we stopped here. The food was AMAZING. We got a variety because we didn't know what was good here. Well apparently everything is good here. I had The pork eggrolls. Out of this world. Great spot.

I stopped in to get a quick bite to eat as it was 8:40 and I knew most places would be closing down around 9 p.m. much to my delight I was able to get seated get my food and be back in my car ready to hit the road again by 9:20. The wait staff was friendly, helpful and attentive, making sure I was able to get the items I wanted and that I was satisfied with the meal throughout. Even offering to bring my service animal water. The food was very good and portion size was more than adequate. Overall I would go back and recommend this restaurant to others.

I guess there are staffing shortages. Can't blame it on anything else really. I wish they had real butter for the potato and the cornbread. If you have Potato and Sweet potatoes on the menu then it's an unspoken rule that you will have butter not vegetable spread. Geez we are in the south.

Started out rough. From the minute we entered the place we noticed a rude lady pushing the hostess out of her way with her elbow and my friend looked at me and said just what I was thinking. (How rude). Then we were seated and our server was the rude lady. I thought to myself this is not going to be a good lunch. She was new and not up with the menu. It was plain to see. After 10 minutes trying to get our order right. My friend exploded. A manager was called to us, and I must say he handled the problem well. Replaced our server and we got excellent service after that. We still love Sonny's. Good save. Peace

Sunny has good barbecue. We usually go when it's nice and quiet, not too busy. I enjoy their barbecue and their sauce.

We've always loved Sonny's. This was our first time at the Gainesville location as we were only in town for a doctor's appointment and subsequent hospital stay at Shands. We ate here the night before and the food was delicious (as is the case at every Sonny's we've been to). Our waitress was so sweet and very attentive and very patient with my mom who couldn't decide on what she wanted to eat. Haha (We left her a generous tip, don't worry.) There was no wait to be seated and there was only like 2 or 3 other tables with customers eating when we were there. Nice and chill. The portions are amazing for what you pay. I had plenty of leftovers to eat at the hotel. Lol The table was clean and the BBQ sauce bottles had been wiped down prior to us being seated. I could tell they'd been cleaned off because I specifically look for little details like that at restaurants. The paper straws were a bit weird because the holes kept me from being able to get much tea in my mouth haha but it is what it is. Overall, I recommend this location. I'd eat there again. I may just go back there when I return to Gainesville in a week or so to pick up my husband from Shands. (Side note: this isn't relevant to my review, but if I could ask those of you who are reading this to please keep my husband in your thoughts. Pray for him if you pray or simply make a wish on his behalf that he makes a full recovery. He is very ill right now with a rare lung disease and needs a double lung transplant and heart valve replacement. The last few years have been EXTREMELY hard on our family and we've never been apart for this long. I'm scared, our daughter is scared and we could use all the positive vibes we can get right now. That is all. Thanks for reading. ❤)

Really good food, great service, Clean restrooms, Nice size portions! Chicken was great, Sliced Port very good!

Service was fantastic but the food fell short. My pulled pork was so dry. My husband meat was also dry. My kids enjoyed their dinners though

I will say that the food is always good at Sonny's.They should stock honey as a condiment since they serve cornbread. I normally bring honey into Sonny's knowing I'll want it! ?Now the prices have gone up and up and up and up. They even have switched their menu to say market value on certain items. Because they keep raising the prices so often... but they don't want to keep printing menus! Hence the market value!I remember getting all you can eat chicken $9.99. The all-you-can-eat chicken dinner is now $16.99! I'm sorry but that's getting a little ridiculous guys!I chose to cook at home mostly since covid happened. I even bought a Masterbuilt electric smoker that is easy and makes great smoked bbq. Also there was an issue with cleanliness in the restroom. Y'all's employees use same bathroom as we do! Someone had blasted the tile wall behind the toilet. Y'all see it and didn't "want" to clean it! ? Understandably, but that's your job to keep it clean! I did take picture to complain to corporate but won't post here. It's gross.

I tasted this at 3 stars because we had decent service, but it wasn't great or outstanding. I ran out of drink which is understandable since I serine a lot, but a seasoned wait staff stays on top of that. My senior Mom couldn't order what she came there to eat because they were still in prep. So, she ordered donut holes and another side item. The donut holes were overdone. So, the waitress reordered her some, but they were overdone also. She chose not to say anything, but I don't recommend ordering the donut holes or arriving too early. Other than, they were satisfactory.
