My family and I ordered takeout on a Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. the food came out in a little while and they had the order correct. We got home and ate it it was very good. We will be ordering again.
The food was absolutely amazing, service was fantastic and overall one of the best Asian food places in Gainesville. Prices are a bit high but you get massive shareable portions that definitely will fill you up. The best thing I had was their lomein, if I wasn't already stuffed from everything else I ordered I would've ordered a second helping.
Hands down the best Asian in Gainesville and I have lived here 12 years. I would actually put it up against any Asian place in New York. Not speedy, because everything is fresh-made, right down to the wontons in the wonton soup. Dishes are very nicely spiced rather than slathered in sauce. Ingredients are high quality, from the bok choi to the beef. Please, PLEASE stay in business.
I loved every single bite that I had at Sohao from start to finish. Went with a group of friends to celebrate them closing on their house and we splurged and got appetizers and entrees all around. Everything was so so so good. A friend had recommended the to me and they did not disappoint. I was also shocked by how reasonable the prices were! I really felt like I got an excellent value for the costs. Portions were on point and I felt like I got a lot of food, but not so much as to be overkill. Service was also fantastic, even when some of our friends were running late. They made sure things came out fresh and hot and that everyone had enough to eat and drink. No one got left out or ignored. Special requests (extra spicy for instance) were accommodated too! Overall, I cannot recommend Sohao enough and I cannot wait to go back when I am in Gainesville again.
New favorite spot for comfort food in Gainesville. Loved the hot pot with lamb and Sichuan Eggplant ?. All the food is perfect for spice lovers ?️. Fair prices, COVID conscious, friendly staff. Highly recommend.
The staff was friendly and attentive. Immediately upon entering you're greeted with many delicious aromas that leave you excited for your meal. Unfortunately most of the items are standard things you'd be able to find at a mall or in the freezer section of a grocery store. Flavors were lacking compared to many other Asian restaurants I've been to. Wait times for food were wide stretched and brought out at random.
The service is absolutely horrible. We placed our order and didn’t receive the food until an hour later. The food was not even that good when we received it and it was cold. Definitely not going back there!
We loved the Dumplings. Best I’ve had.And the pork buns were unbelievable! I had a spicy boiled beef dish that I forgot what it was called that I also enjoyed very much. My only negative was the sweet and sour pork. While the sauce for it was delicious the pork itself was tenderloin and just didn’t work for me but my biggest complaint was that the outside coating was soggy and not crispy as I would have expected?
This is a wonderful spot. I visited right as they opened, so was able to have one of their first meals that day. I had the braised pork belly bento and it was perrrrrrfect: the veggies were great, the rice was excellent, and the pork was cooked EXACTLY how I enjoy! This will definitely be a place I frequent. The only gripe I /do/ have is that the cup given to us for green tea was.. very large. This is purely a personal preference, but I'm including it for anyone who prefers a pot of tea to pour for themselves in smaller servings, to keep things warm :)
Top 2 Chinese restaurants in Gainesville and it’s not #2! Every meal was delightful, down to the sides of white rice. Best Lo Mein I’ve had. The staff is wonderful, great ambiance, reasonably priced for the amount of food you get (??quality) and numerous options of food to choose from. You can’t lose with this place :)
