Between the staff (bartenders, waitresses, and door guys), the food (wings, tenders, corn nuggets), and the deals (2.40 happy hour doubles, dog lager pitchers), you cannot go wrong with salty dog saloon. The staff is great, food is great, and prices are even better. The pool table and AMI jukebox are just the icing on the cake! Best bar in Gainesville.
They were wonderful and my Sir Bennett looks amazing! Only here visiting but I suggest them hands down!!! They were referred to me from my host at air B&B and if I could give more than 5 ⭐️ I would give 10! They were very kind to me and him

Nastiest bar in Gainesville. Horrible service. Horrible smell. Worst staff I’ve ever encountered in a bar… the bartender was drunk out of her mind and argued with me for not leaving enough tips when I tipped her all night long. DONT COME HERE.
Went to get my two friends birthday shots and the bartender was so rude, on a Wednesday evening when it wasn’t even that busy. Got two and a half shots of whiskey, gave her a $20, and only got $1 back in change.I called the next morning to see how much the shots would have cost to see if she short changed me, and whoever answered the phone said, “Abortion clinic, you r*pe ‘em, we scrape ‘em.” Horrified I said, “Excuse me??” Then they repeated the gross comment with laughter in the background. I said that was disgusting and immediately hung up. I am absolutely disgusted.

So sad to leave this review. Throughout college I had countless fun nights at dog but I can’t let my most recent experience go... my boyfriend left his iPhone 11 with the bouncer as collateral (very common at college bars he was not silly for doing so) to get me (I was still inside with other girl friends) so I didn’t have to leave the bar alone late at night. When he returned to retrieve his phone not even 20 minutes later following our goodbyes to graduating friends, he claimed he no longer had the phone. Less than 20 minutes later it was shut off and you could no longer see the location.. we will be following up but with this being said I am highly disappointed and honestly disgusted with the actions of the staff of this establishment.
Dog is a classic. Best place in mid to grab a drink with friends and chill, especially if I don't wanna get mobbed by underaged undergrads. And the food is actually decent, especially after I'm a few drinks in. Highly recommend
