Usually I give this place 4.5 stars. This visit only 3.I had Vietnamese crispy rolls, very good, and the Spicy Lemongrass Chicken Clay Pot which was a bit disappointing because it was extremely salty. I understand it uses fish sauce in the flavoring which is salty but the saltiness should not overpower the entire dish. Also could not detect anything spicy about the dish at all. Perhaps I got served a dud?If it’s supposed to taste like I’m licking a salt block then please let me know and I will adjust my rating.I’ve been here before and everything I’ve eaten was very delicious so I was surprised this time around. The iced coffee is also very good.
One of the best restaurants around in Gainesville. The staff are super nice and generous. The food is amazing and the menu has a variety of things to try!
My favorite Asian spot in town! They are very consistent and always delicious. The menu is quite large for the size of the place and I feel like it is a hidden gem. I come here often and whenever I walk in to pick up my food, the owner recognizes me and says hello. It reminds me of a cozy, busy spot in a big city somewhere. They even keep food for deliveries extra hot by using tin foil.
One star for Red Rice Kitchen because zero star is not an option. WORST FOOD EVER! What an insult to authentic Vietnamese clay pot rice. The rice was old, dry, and sticky. It was not even warmed up properly. After one spoon I asked for some sauce to add flavor and make the dish less dry but, he couldn’t really help. I asked him to take the food back since it was inedible. He said they already cooked the food, so he gave me a 50% happy birthday discount on my receipt. A customer at the another table asked me to see my food. As I approached the table, the owner stood in front of me and told me to stop harassing his customer even though the gentleman said I was not bothering him. The owner continued to yell at us as we cashed out. He then followed my daughter and I outside, berating us as we tried to drive away. He continued to harass us, so we asked him to step back or I would call the cops, to which he said , call the cops. I hope we were not treated as such because of our skin color. The other two tables got steaming hot food and exceptional service unlike us. Now I am worried for our safety because he video taped us, our license plate and he has our credit card information.
What a disappointment. I thought I would try this place because of reviews but sadly the items don't look like the pictures and the portions are very small for the price. A tiny cup of broth soup shouldn't cost $6+ a cup of hot green tea $4. We also got the appt sampler and decided not to get anymore food after those items. Soup was bland and the appt plate was just an assortment of deep fried items. We could over hear the kitchen staff aggressively talking to one another and over all energy of the place was heavy. I don't write bad reviews often but this place isn't what it seems and I think some of the reviews must be fake. Ps don't argue with the customers.
I can only state my experience here was less than satisfactory. I ordered a menu item and it was served with cilantro. I informed them I can not eat cilantro. They argued about it in the kitchen then sent back the same bowl strained with all the cilantro oil still in it. Then refused to take it off my bill. I paid my bill and left.
This place was extraordinary. I have lived a lot of places. And the food was hands down in my top 4 pho places. The service was excellent i never waited for anything. Would highly recommend, 5 stars.
This is my favorite restaurant and I don’t say that lightly. Food is always fresh and hot but the portion sizes have grown slimmer over the years. The sweet chili wings are great, along with the garlic fried rice (I add chicken and shrimp-the beef is really good too)
The food tasted alright; if you like Thai food, WaHaHa is much much better and cheaper. (We have not tried the Pho). We left feeling like we overpaid for what we got. We most likely will not come back
Very delicious and filling! Vegetarian options are really nice too. I really like the vermicelli with tofu/veggies. Nice relaxing atmosphere.
