It's a nice place for adults to socialize over drinks. They have a limited food menu, and it was ok. The fries were definitely overcooked for my liking, they were crispy, not crunchy. It seems like that's just their style. Not a fan.

We went for a brunch/lunch and the menu was pretty limited, but that was expected since it seems more like a bar/dinner place. What we did get was AMAZING, I didn't know that you could make food taste so good!!! I forced myself to make room for dessert and I finished a whole slice of cheesecake because it was that good!!

P&G was recommended to us and being on the East side of town decided to give it a go. You could easily drive right past as it’s located in a sort of professional park on NE 16th Av. Felt a warm and friendly vibe walking in the door. Grab a menu at the bar find a table or eat at the bar and order from the bartender. Small menu with a prim fixe also. My burger was juicy and done correctly. The wife had a fried eggplant sandwich with lots of veggies and she raved it! The bartender was fun sorry I didn’t catch his name. Several craft brews on tap as well as a small selection of wine. This will definitely be our go to place on the NE side of town. As a side note about 3 blocks west is the Tom Petty Park where Tom played as a kid. His boyhood home is just across the street.

Overpriced and honestly not that great. Small portions. My daughter’s kids meal had more chicken than my fried chicken sandwich. $12 for a small sandwich and not even a side? Guess I’ll stick with the kids menu next time.

Public & General came highly recommended by a friend from Gainesville so we finally tried it out together in late November 2021. I really loved the atmosphere inside, with the (what feels like) royal Victoria-era wallpaper and the rustic, old tavern bar feel. The menu is small but changes every couple weeks. I ordered the crawfish etouffee and a cheesecake for dessert. The etouffee was so flavorful with creole spice and a good amount of crawfish. The cheesecake was incredibly creamy and melted in my mouth. I usually don’t save room for dessert when I go out to restaurants to eat but I’m very glad I did in this case and I will order cheesecake any time I return. I am definitely looking forward to my next trip back to Public & General.

Great food and drinks on a Saturday afternoon. Friendly, attentive server. Poke fresh and delicious, burger perfectly cooked.

This place is awesome, I stopped in on my day adventure. Went to the natural history museum and then came here for dinner. The atmosphere is so cool, staff is phenomenal and the food is just incredible. It’s very fresh and flavorful and my 3 entrees came out in 10 minutes. I will definitely be coming here again and bringing friends, and I drive all the way from Jacksonville so that’s saying something. There was no wait although I’ve heard there can be, but the food is so worth a wait. Tried the Pork Bahn Mi & the blueberry cantaloupe salad & Pork Tacos. *Chefs Kiss*

great selection of beers (canned/bottled and draft), wine, and cocktails with some good eats, too.Insider tip: Tuesday nights there is a special for $9 for a burger, fries, and a beer and live music. Great weeknight vibe.

The only reason this place got one star from us, is because the atmosphere was relaxing. But other than that, we should have gone to McDonalds.

I wanted a comfy, cozy atmosphere with good food and drinks. I found all of this at Public and General. I wanted relaxed - not rushed - where one could sit and talk while enjoying drinks and food.
