Sitting here right now. Walked in and was greeted by someone who looked annoyed that we are here. After grabbing two menus (there are three of us) walked directly to a table across the room without saying a word. Put the menus on the table and walked away without even turning around to see if we were following him. We guessed that was our table and went over to sit down. He came back a minute later with two waters and went back without saying a word. ... We just ordered and he seems a little friendlier and more animated but only took our order without asking any questions about how we wanted it cooked or offering any sauces or add ons. He came back with delicious food and a smile. He spoke friendly to us and asked if we wanted more than water. We only ordered a soft drink for our daughter. He checked back several times with a seemingly genuine concern for our comfort and satisfaction. At the end he asked if we wanted anything else and we only asked for the bill and boxes. He came back quickly with what we asked for and offered a bag for the boxes. The bill was over $60 for two appetizers, a soft drink and two entrees. The food was good and his change of attitude made a big difference. We left a 25% tip. My fortune reads, "Don't give up, the beginning is always the hardest."
The food here was ok, but the duck was over cooked. Also, this place is expensive it’s definitely a $$$ not $$ as suggested. I was very clear to the server that I detest sesame seed oil and to not put it in anything we order. First dish she brought out had sesame seed oil in it…. The guy working the bar loudly blowing his nose. Yeah that’s what I want pictured in my head trying to eat. Took Forever for the entirety of the food to come out. Window mirror was very streaky, service not very attentive. Vents in ceiling need dusting. Typical China restaurant cleanliness, a bit better but not by much. New flooring so that was nice, Bathroom was surprisingly clean. Best Asian food in the area but Asian food in the area in general here is just badly represented. Indianapolis Indiana has a place called Formosa. Best Asian food in a restaurant setting ever.
I wish I could rate this place higher, because a lot of their food is delicious. Unfortunately over the past few years inconsistency of food, management, and understaffing have lowered its rating for me. Some days the service is great and so is the food, others there's so little service they forget to bring out entire orders, serve the wrong dish, and don't have good communication skills. They used to be our go to for Chinese food, but quality and service has declined so much hlwe have decided not to come
Excellent food and drinks in an upscale setting that has changed little over the last 50 years. We typically come for dinner, but after a late lunch, we had a memorable night sampling tasty appetizers and cocktails at the bar with Brandon, the fantastic and entertaining bartender. We had a great time trying some new cocktails and looking at the photos of celebrities that have dined there. Whether you want a great lunch, dinner, or drinks at the bar, I recommend Mr. Hans.
The food was straight bad. It ruined my entire date night especially after the racism I faced from the server. She got us food which was bad and when we tried to send it back, she said you cant just order and try stuff. We were only sending back the eggplant appetizer and she got to lecturing us. What was worse was that a group of white people sitting right beside us sent back 2 of their dishes and she told them right away sir and took away their dishes without any resistance. Never have I faced such humiliating racism in any restaurant and I shall never forget this and never come back here.
Mr Hans has been a favorite of myself and my family for over a decade. The food is phenomenal, the drinks (to which I have more recently become accustomed) are creative, fun and enjoyable, and the atmosphere is welcoming. It’s a classy place that’ll accept you however you’re dressed, and with a menu as large as they offer, everyone’s getting something they’ll enjoy, whether it’s one of the more authentic dishes or something a little more Americanized. Whatever the case, I have yet to be disappointed. The pictures I included are of the ribs and the pork belly.
Beyond amazing service, food, and drinks! As a vegetarian, I appreciate any establishment that is able to provide a plethora of options that goes beyond the usual veggie fare. But Mr.Han’s takes the extra step and has a whole menu section for Vegans and Vegetarians alike! The drinks are some of the best curated cocktails I’ve had in Gainesville. The intimate, high class dining experience makes you forget that you’re in Gainesville altogether. I cannot stop recommending Mr.Han’s to everyone I know.. especially if they’re a local that hasn’t been back since they’ve reopened.
Really well prepared food. The same dish may vary a little from each order, but it is always good. We are so glad to see the recent refresh of this long standing Gainesville establishment!
After hearing such great feedback about this place, we were excited to try it. Unfortunately, we were sorely disappointed. The peking duck was supposed to be a 'must try.' It was dry and had completely no taste at all. The noodles were so greasy, we had heartburn after eating it. And the scallion pancakes didn't look anything like a scallion pancake at all. Truly saddened because we wanted to like this place so much.
We had high hopes and plenty of what we got was good. They didn’t salt the edamame but we have learned to travel with our own salt. The pan fried dumpling were flavorful but lots of dough. Loved the fried string beans. We took out and ate across the road looking onto the pond.
