First time going to Maude’s and I wanted to like it. However, we had a bad experience with an employee there.We sat down at a table to eat outside when a few minutes later an employee comes out and starts to be aggressive towards us. He yells at us for moving a table outside (which we did not do it was like that when we got there). He continues to be aggressive and tell us that we need to move. When I tell him that the table was like that when we got there he says “well guess you have to pay for someone else’s sins”???? Wouldn’t have been a problem if he asked us kindly to move it. I would’ve happily agreed. Not going back
1 Croissant and 1 quiche almost 19 dollars. Not big portions at all. Cool shop and awesome staff but the prices and portions are a little out of whack for me.
Things have gone from mediocre to poor. The coffee roast changed to burnt tire and the “service” remains surly. I’ve given them several chances making excuses and generally hoping for better… but three bad experiences in a row? The prices are dear and it’s just not better than Starbucks across the street… too bad. Another one bites the dust…
The only coffee shop in town still without a for-here cup option. There’s environmentalist art on the wall of a whale being injured by plastic straws, but you’re still giving away plastic lids with every cup of coffee with no for-here cup option.Whatever pre-pandemic dishwashing process existed should have already sanitized the dishes in a way suitable enough to protect from hepatitis, let alone covid, it’s not a logical excuse.
Really really good breakfast sandwiches on croissants. Good coffee. But pretty slow service. Do not go if you are in a rush...
I called on 11/4/21 at approximately 7:48am. Phone rang several times. It was answered and placed on the counter. No hello hold please or nothing. I think this is very poor customer service and rude. They never came back to the phone so I hung up after 8 minutes. DO BETTER!!! Also the price varies from day to day with some of the food items like the sausage egg and cheese wrap.....how can this be!!!
Amazing spot filled with staff that cares about its clientele! They made an out of Townes feel right at home! Tasty coffee and breakfast! It is refreshing to see that Florida is not what the News tells me!
I have some nostalgia attached to Maude's (from about 13 years ago), and while that definitely influences the rating, I made it a point to stop in and grab a cold brew while I was in town. The good vibes are still there, the service was quick, and the coffee was (most importantly) good and strong.Do yourself, and Gainesville, a favor and skip the corporate spots for Maude's.
The coffee is pretty good, the pastries also. The atmosphere is great, a little cramped when buying the food. I usually go across the street to Starbucks, honestly, because The size of the drinks that I buy are significantly smaller and more expensive here. When I order coffee I want a lot of coffee, I don’t want a small cup.
A little overpriced for the product. Had a ricksaw sandwich. They were really lite on the bacon and the crust was really hard. Also had a chai latte which was a little too sweet for my taste. In addition, there were things on the menu that weren't available, like ketchup. Overall experience wasn't bad, but really don't have a desire to return.
