I get you have to request housekeeping but after talking to front desk and leaving messages for my room to be serviced that never happened i can't recommend this hotel.... carpet was stained and for this price not even an alarm clock or microwave
My company but several rooms for a conference that we were having at UF. I first want to highlight the great things about staying here because they far outweigh the few negatives. #1: We specially reserved a hot breakfast Buffett at the no-name lounge for all conference attendees and there was an employee, Edrickson Pierre, Who was exceptional in all regards. Even though it was very early in the morning, he was friendly and helpful every single morning. He frequently checked on each individual that were enjoying their breakfast and immediately cleaned once someone had departed. It made me start my day with a smile and positive attitude so thank you to that great employee! The food was also a wide variety and tasty. #2: LOCATION! It’s so close to campus that you can walk if you want to get your steps in lol. If not, a very short drive! Less than 5 minutes. #3: Friendliness of the night staff. During my stay, the front desk staff were men during the late evenings. Every time I would come in from the conference or come downstairs to use the computers they were very helpful and kind. A little goes a long way and kindness is especially appreciated with all that’s going on in the world. Cons: #1: Housekeeping didn’t do a great job with cleaning my bathroom, there were strands of hair in towels, in the sink and in the tub. However, my bed linens were clean and the bed was made neatly so I’m thankful for that. Also, the lobby and downstairs look very modern and new but the rooms are dated and need some renovating. #2: Day time front desk staff can use a little more training on friendliness. A woman named Victoria checked me in and she was curt and unhelpful. She didn’t greet me and looked to me as if i was annoying her when i asked her questions about my stay and what was included. The other staff members just awkwardly looked at her instead of giving her a nudge to be kinder or offering to help so overall a chat about greetings and pleasantries and getting a manager when a guest asks for something beyond your training would help ! Overall, I would stay at the Hilton again if I visit Gainesville.
Pretty old hotel with some refurbished rooms and some not. I stayed 4 night and they never cleaned the room. I asked twice but apparently after 9am it's too late to ask for cleaning.Apparently they stopped cleaning because of COVID. I mean, seriously? Instead of increasing the frequency of cleaning like in the rest of the civilized world, you just stop it? Are you Hilton or a joke? There's no breakfast included in the overpriced rooms, and the quality of breakfast at the No Name bar or at the small take away café inside the hotel is extremely deceiving. The "basket" in the breakfast menu contained 1 store bought croissant and 1 store bought muffin. Impossible to have an espresso at the bar, but they can make it to-go at the café ?The location is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, a car is definitely needed - at least there's a Metro Diner at 5 minutes walking distance.Hilton promote the use of their app to unlock the doors with the phone but it only worked the first day, then I had to go to the front desk and they gave me keycards, saying it was not possible to use the phone after the first self check in ??♀️In the picture the small design garbage basket after 4 days of no cleaning...Hilton staff, don't bother to reply, just make things better since I'm apparently not the only one to complain about cleaning.
My brother and I decided to stay here for two nights. Pretty good rate using my honor points. Nice reception, beautiful bar area, nice pool. Room is beautiful and comfy. Lots of restaurants around to choose from. Go Gators!
Great hotel, clean, friendly staff, stayed for a week. Breakfast was okay, ate almost every morning. Shula's was very good, dined 3 times. No Name Bar was great, visited frequently. Tristan is a a very good bartender.
Room was spacious and clean, but the carpets in the corridor were stained. The hotel bar was very uninspiring - with very little suitable for vegetarians other than if you asked the bacon / steak to be replaced with flavourless cheese Breakfast was bought cafeteria style from a small shop - with two small tables to sit. Great if you like blast heated high fat items. Conference main veggie course was inedible. Appeared to be an entire packet (½ inch thick and uncooked) of filo pastry wrapped around zucchini and other vegetable items. Breakfast round the corner at Metro much better
I have been staying at this hotel to visit family close to UF for years. Great location for us and was always a pleasure to stay. Sadly, we have seen a steady decline in the upkeep and investment in the property and the quality and hospitality of the staff. The room was dirty. The carpet was a mess with stains and was even threadbare in some places. Don’t walk on it with bare feet. The bathroom is tired and showing wear. All surfaces, from the entrance door throughout were in need of refinishing. The shower has two temps, hot-hot or cold. Tiny matters, but they show lack of care. The ice bucket was missing a finial and the bolt was exposed. The ice bag doesn’t fit the bucket and the ice machine looks like it belongs in a break room at a industrial plan. Yuck. The exterior landscape looked like an abandoned shopping center. Weeds and dead plants everywhere. No pride of care. Now to housekeeping. It is a thankless job and no doubt hard to find workers. But something needs to be done. The person assigned to our room could not have more rude less accommodating. I slightly moved his cart in the hall to allow his co-worker to pass with a load of dirty linens. He yelled at me and told me to keep my hands off “his” cart. This is the guy cleaning my room. Really? There is unfortunately so much more. This place needs a new set of management eyes and TLC. Could be great again with some minimal investment. Will be likely looking for a new go-to hotel in Gainesville. It did’t have to happen.
I have stayed with Hilton brand hotels as a Hilton Honors member for over a decade. I’ve never had any complaints until staying at this hotel. Upon entry, the lobby itself met the “Hilton aesthetics”. It was beautiful. However my room was subpar (as nice as I can put it). It was old and in need of thorough cleaning and repair. Some repairs were obviously taken care of by corking (sloppily). There was unidentified stains throughout to include the doors and walls of the bathroom. Several outlets/USB’s didn’t work, ice maker nor vending machine on the 3rd floor didn’t work. Our children were at camp at UF and this was the closest hotel to the campus. We stayed a week, paying over $1,000 for the stay to be advised AFTER check-in that we could not have room service until on or after the 4th day. I had to call for toilet paper… and wait. Towels…and wait. The room was never cleaned (outside of our own cleaning) throughout the stay. We sat trash outside of the door as instructed by the front desk when we called to inquire about trash pick-up.There were no premium channels or streaming options. Coffee maker and ice bucket were equally disgusting. I usually don’t bother with reviews but this was a horrible stay and I would not return to this location. If you’re in the area, there are several other hotel options that I wish I would’ve considered. I’ve never experienced such filth and disappointment with a Hilton hotel ever!Very disappointed.-Hilton Honors Member
First of all housekeeping never showed up for a whole week. There was barely any toilet paper on any of the two rolls in the bathroom...you would think they would leave at least one full roll. Then you had to collect towels and toilet paper from the reception area because like I said one week in a room a no housekeeping done. When house keeping did show up they were as unpleasant as bad air....with attitude like they were doing you a favor. The lift stank as though a garbage truck had parked in there. Rooms were moldy, pillows smelt like they were not changed when the last guests checked out. Definitely not the Hilton standard I'm used to.
Great atmosphere and very clean with such comfortable beds.
