Pretty good food! I've only had their breakfast, but the "canyon cubes" (fried potatoes) & French toast were both delicious!
I came in for a late lunch and it was alright. Small, privately owned restaurants are my kind of vibe. I didn't get much food for the money though. I got a chicken sandwich for six bucks and wrote in a 3$ tip. The sandwich was small and didn't come with any side. I asked for coleslaw but they put it in the sandwich when I meant a side dish. Oh well.
It's been several years since I've been to this longtime iconic Gainesville eating establishment, and, while some things have changed, one thing hasn't, great tasting food. David's has a long history of serving up good barbecue at a good value and that remains the same as always. An unpretentious place that is focused on the food. For those looking for a unique local eatery with good food at a good price, David's fills the bill.
Fairly large portions of most things. Lots of variety in meats and sides. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The place could use a facelift tho. Was really run down and dirty.

We hired David's BBQ for our 3/26/22 wedding. We communicated with Bobby to set-up a tasting, and from the very beginning, he completely wowed us with how friendly and personable he was. We were able to sample all of the items we were interested in for our wedding menu, and the food was great! He served us large portions while running through a slideshow depicting his decor program. This was one of the reasons why we had originally looked into this caterer, as he can provide, and decorate almost an entire wedding, included with the cost of catering! After we finished up, he packed up a leftover plate for us to eat at home and let us tour his catering area.We knew immediately after leaving that this was the caterer for us. Prior to the wedding, Bobby was quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had, and we felt assured that our event would go off without a hitch.Their team showed up early to our wedding site, and everything was set-up exactly as we had envisioned it. The catering staff were all friendly and provided us with excellent service. After we finished our ceremony, there was someone waiting for us with cold beverages, and they also brought a special plate of appetizers just for us and our bridal party during photos. For our buffet, they walked us down the line, describing each dish to us while making our plates. At the end of the event, they provided small to-go boxes, and boxed up all of the leftover cake for our guests to take home. They also boxed up whatever remaining leftovers we had in metal pans for us to take. What was extra special was that they also boxed up two individual meals, a small bottle of champagne, a card signed by all of their staff, and $20 in gift cards to their restaurant. This was a personalized little touch that we did not expect and loved!Please, do yourself a favor, and if you are still looking for a wedding caterer, contact David's BBQ and you will be sure to have a great event!
Bobby is THE person to have on your wedding team. He works incredibly hard to make sure every detail is perfect. The decor warehouse is everything you could ever want. The food is delicious. He made everything easy and FUN. Our ceremony threw a curveball with the weather, and he handled it without any issue. I really don't think we could have pulled everything off without him. His team is professional and very punctual as well. We can't thank him enough!

David's BBQ catered our wedding this past weekend on 1/8; it was fantastic. The staff was attentive to our guests and to us (going out of their way to make sure we had food and drinks even though we were running around trying to talk to everyone!), on time, super friendly and professional. Our guests keep talking about how good the food was, and we definitely agree.Bobby and his team were easy to work with throughout the wedding planning process, were incredibly responsive (and let's be honest, there were a few times I emailed way outside of business hours, and still got nearly immediate responses). They helped with decor choices and linen rentals and they made sure we were kept up to date with all of invoicing and ordering.Additionally, Bobby and his team were incredibly accommodating when we made the difficult decision to scale down our wedding (the week of the wedding, no less) due to COVID-19 case numbers increasing.Bobby and the David's team was one of our favorite vendors to work with during our planning (and we loved our vendors, so that's saying something!). I had David’s cater my wedding this past weekend. Bobby was fantastic and made sure everything went smoothly. Everyone complimented the food (the brisket was AWESOME) as well as the staff and bartenders. Definitely recommend for any event or wedding you have!
