Ordered a burger and it was just ok. The meat didn’t taste fresh to me and it really had little flavor; the bun a bit stale. The collard greens were really good though. Waitress forgot to tell us there were specials on the board so the menu was limited which is why I ordered the burger. After we ordered we saw the Large board with the specials which we missed because we were socializing. I would have preferred to order from that menu as they had grouper and salmon and it looked interesting. I like to support local restaurants but I have to admit it was disappointing. If you go park in the hands garage as they have designated parking there.
Me and three of my friends graduated from pharmacy school in May 2022 and Blue Gill hosted us and all our families/friends for a dinner following the ceremony (~30 people). Their manager, Liz, did an amazing job of coordinating with us and working on all the logistics leading up to the event. The staff was accommodating, polite, and provided excellent service. The food was quality, presented in good timing, and the main dishes and appetizers all arrived hot and fresh from the kitchen. They had a fantastic bar and lovely atmosphere. Their space was spotlessly clean and open. We truly appreciated their premier service and how they made our graduation day even more special. Thank you to the Blue Gill Team for all your hard work! We had a lovely time!
Good food, reasonable prices, and great service. Excellent craft beer selection for such a small spot. The shrimp and grits were good, not great. Shrimp was a bit stringy, which I found odd for Florida. Cheddar grits were a bit bland.I would have given the place 4 stars, but it's incredibly hard to find if you don't know where to look. It's in a strip of shops literally below a parking garage on the UF Health campus. There's no good way to get to the place, and the sign is behind a palm tree, making it incredibly hard to see when driving by unless you know exactly where to look.
Visited in april 22 I just love this place. Quality food with no rush, you can dine here at a very high level. Staff was verry friendly and told at the seating about the 12% charge (what is absolutly deserved! Against some otheres here who complained about). Great beer choice from brewerys around or in Gainsville. I can definitly recomend this place!
To have had Blue Gill cater our wedding was such a delight! Claudine and Bert's expertise exceeded all expectations. Not only were the selections delectable and highly complimented by our guests, the care with which Claudine assisted us through menu and set up suggestions (and more) was immensely appreciated. I highly recommend them for both in-restaurant dining and any catering needs. They set the bar way high, and still managed to surpass it!Will update with photos once we receive them :-)
Food was great, service, drinks! Ate there all 3 times we were in Gainesville. Walking distance to hotel and Hospital.
This is my second time to The Blue Gill, this time was coming in with a fairly large party. The staff was excellent and very attentive to the entire parties needs. They have great food, and an awesome selection of spirits. Unfortunately it is not a convenient spot for me to go all that often, but I would never hesitate to recommend this place.
excellent place for upscale food. There is no doubt you are eating at a place that the chef cares. The pork shank is one of my favorites.
I hosted a bridal shower luncheon in The Barn room. Very spacious room with separate bathroom served the purpose I was hoping for!! Liz was very pleasant and accommodating through the entire planning process. Now let's get into the food!! EVERYONE in our party raved over their food and how good it was. There were 2 people that ordered the shrimp & grits that returned their meal for something else, but Alex was more than accommodating with that. I definitely recommend you try them out! Food, drinks and service was on point! Can't wait to go back!
Good. Not great. Be aware there is a 12% dine in service charge on the check which I found odd if it is supposed act as a tip since it is low. It isn't clear who is getting that money.
