A passable sample of Southern American cuisine.I found that the food was prepared well enough, especially the enchiladas and quesadillas which both had their starches at the perfect consistency, but the seasoning was all over the place. The sheer amount of salt completely masked the taste of the food rather than complementing it, and I found it difficult to finish my meal. I feel that this is representative of a more broadly "unimaginative" (or gratuitous) approach to seasoning, which does detract from the appeal of having this food at a restaurant rather than making your own.I found the salsa to have a pleasing taste and spice level, however, and what I did manage to taste of the food itself beyond the sodium was appealing. I feel like Chapala could do very well for themselves if they just made a few, small adjustments to their preparation. There are better offerings for Mexican in the area, but Chapala is an acceptable alternative in a pinch.
Good food. Fast service. One of the best chili rellenos in town. I had the cheese dip (very good) shredded chicken quesadilla(little small but also very good) chili rellenos(so good!) burrito supreme w/rice & beans. It was all very good and came out quickly. My friend had the cantina tacos w/chorizo & side of rice, everything was delicious!
Had the Chicken Enchiladas Verdes - very good. It took a little wait to get seated even though the restaurant wasn’t busy and they seemed to have sufficient staffing, however, once seated, service was reasonably prompt. I placed my order but forgot to add sour cream. As the waitress passed by from serving another table, I added the sour cream to my order, thinking I’d probably have to remind her to bring it once the food arrived. I was pleasantly surprised, however, when she brought out the entire order all together. The enchiladas could have been a little warmer but they were clearly made with good quality ingredients. The sauce could use a little mort tomatillo flavor but, overall, it was pretty tasty.
Went early evening on a week day before the rush, so the restaurant was empty. The food and drinks don't look anything like the pictures. Ordered a frozen margarita with salt. It came in a common water glass with barely any salt on the rim. The food was bland - nothing special. There were boxes stored here-and-there through out the restaurant instead of out of the customer view. On the plus side, the place seemed clean - no bugs to speak of, and they served a good portion of food. Price was ok. Overall, very meh.
My family and I really enjoyed Chapalas. The service took a little longer than normal but maybe they were having an off day. It happens. I got the Burrias Pizza, which was basically a super soft quesidilla with barria meat, it was soft and hard to hold but the food was delicious. Good atmosphere. Kind waitress. 2 for 1 Maragritas. My son got a kid pizza which was way to small he had to share my food with me. But I'd def go back.
We went here twice in February. They have a very good salsa, lightly salted chips & delicious burritos. They have an extensive menu but we are burrito people!! My husband liked the Burrito Supreme with ground beef with rice & beans inside ($11.24). I preferred the Burrito Deluxe with ground beef - came with 2 burritos, sour cream, melted cheese & guacamole ($10.24). We went mid-afternoon so it wasn’t busy & had great service. Note: there are different web pages & some are not up to date in regards to prices.
We ordered chicken fajita and got a burnt dish with 1/2 cup oil!! Also, half of the other dish was missing.
Every time I try to call in an order to the Fort Walton location they often just don’t answer the phone so you have to go there, place the order, and then sit outside for 20 minutes until it’s ready. It’s not because they’re busy because when you actually drive there to place your order there’s two people inside. This is an every other week thing when I want to go there. I tried yesterday to send an email asking for a better contact number and the email came back undeliverable that’s listed on the website. Today I tried to order again and after a few attempts they took the phone off the hook. Awful customer service. I called the other location in Niceville and they said that the managers were not in until 4. So disappointed. It takes a lot for me to come on here and write one of these reviews because I think that it’s a waste of time. It’s so frustrating for a company to have this bad of business operations.
It's always a great time when we go! We absolutely love there food! The wait staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable if you have any questions about what is in each dish. There are so many wonderful options, I have such a hard time making a decision lol
Great food, really was great food. But we got charged more than we were supposed to. I tipped to make it a flat 90$ and got charged 100 even. I understand it’s just 10$ more. But that’s ridiculous. My tip was taken.
