We were headed home on King's Highway to Okeechobee after picking up an awesome dental cabinet at the Vero Beach Auction. Thought we would have a late lunch . We had not been to Chubbies before so here we go. Chubbies was closed for renovations. I remembered seeing reviews from Al's and decided to go there. The outdoor seating facility and the bathroom were clean. I knew I had to try the burrito plate. My wife decided on the 8 boneless chicken wing plate and asked the person taking orders if the fries were crinkle cut fries or not. She stated they were not crinkle but thin cut straight fries. We are not fans of crinkle fries. We made our way to the back side of the building to pick up our order. We did not have to wait long and the person serving seemed quite congenial. The burrito was large and came with refried beans and Spanish rice. My wife's wing platter came with a refillable drink and Yes... A crap load of crinkle fries. The girl who took our order was removing the trash bag near us from the container and we let her know they were crinkle fries, she said they were straight last year. Last year as in four months ago? Very attentive. My wife said the fries were very over salted, Her wing sauce and the wing breading were over salted. The burrito although being large was a very wet gluttonous flour tortilla. You could not taste the flavors of the enchilada sauce on top because the steak and rice inside was overwhelmed with salt. The more you ate the salt build up becomes exponential. My refried beans were salted to the point of inedible. The Spanish rice was surprisingly bland with indistinguishable flavors but that might be because of the mass amounts of salt on everything else. Clean restaurant, good friendly service and reasonable prices with food that might be good if they concentrated on spices rather than salt. We will not return.
Stopped in for a breakfast sandwich, bacon egg and cheese, bacon extra crispy. Ended up waiting for my food, it had been sitting in the window, waiting for me. Everyone else had their numbers called out, after watching 2 people who ordered after me get their food. The person who took my order finally realized I was waiting, still. Food was hardly worth the wait. Bread was kind of chewy and the bacon was not well done. Orange juice was delicious. Might be worth taking a couple of those be patient signs down. Shame on me for reading them and not asking about my food.
Oh that was absolutely wonderful staff behind the counter and very clean as well . Our next day trip to Vero Beach we make it a point to get there for lunch.
I have wanting to stop here for years on King's Highway on my way to the Turnpike entry. Had a club sandwich which was wonderful. I hear the burgers are very good. Friendly staff that make you feel at home. Closed on Sunday

I grab breakfast here a time or two a week and lunch when in the neighborhood - food is always fabulous. Being outside at a table makes it the perfect place for a quiet conversation. The staff is especially friendly and attentive.
Great little place economically priced and a good meal for the money so it is a value
They sell an orange shake made with orange sherbet, fresh squeezed orange juice, and home made vanilla ice cream. It's served with a smile and soo delicious. Enjoy it all when served, if you freeze some for later you find it loses it's magic.
