We've been enjoying Skip One for over 15 years, and we still very much enjoy the food and 'Old Florida' charm. About 3 years ago they almost doubled their prices, and that was understandable as they were so cheap compared to the competition. They also cut down on the size of their portions, and now they are serving their potatoe salad in a plastic tub, and it is very skimpy compared to the traditional serving (on the plate!, not a tub on your plate). All things considered, this has lost its 5-star from me. The servers are all still very nice and friendly and the seafood is very good.
Took our grandson here for fried gator platter ($23) My wife and I got the flounder fish sandwich on sourdough bread ($14.99) Mine was grilled and my wife’s was fried. All of the entrees were very good, tasted fresh and cooked perfectly. Not a fancy place, but they do deliver on quality & service ?. The “to go drinks” we huge! Nice touch on a hot Florida day.
GO HERE NOW!! If you want FRESH SHRIMP, literally fresh catch of the day on some occasions, this is a MUST visit! Yes, the price has gone up a buck or two, if you have a frozen food budget there is a Publix down the road. The fried shrimp basket will not disappoint, this is perfection, lightly battered, sweet, fresh shrimp. The Cole Slaw has been consistent year after year after year, I want to know the supplier, I need that Slaw in my life more often. The Fresh Fries, cooked to order and delicious. We did sit outside as we had our pup, this seating area is new and it was a great day to sit outside with ample room it is perfect. If you need an additional shrimp, have two orders, or steal one or two from your wife.......I did!!
Awesome food here. Good overall promptness from our server. There are 3 different rooms for seating. Not the best ambiance. Not a warm fuzzy feeling. The table we sat at was wobbly and kept spinning around on us if we leaned on it. It needs some major decor upgrades for sure. You can buy seafood here though but it's pretty expensive, of course. Fishy smelling too.
Ordered the Shrimp platter ($18.95). 7 grilled shrimp (they were good); cooked broccoli (so raw the knife had a hard time cutting them; didn’t eat more than one floret) & a huge serving of ricearoni! Times must be harder than we’re being told! Suggest you go to shrimp place on Metro instead!
The food is outstanding and fresh! We visit every time we come down to Florida!
Great food! Had the grouper platter extra crunchy and it was fantastic! Also tried the clam strips and they were perfect! Not to small and not to large. Will come again!
It doesn’t look like much, but the food is cooked absolutely perfectly! We got combo platters with scallops, shrimp, salmon, and tuna, and they were great!
Food that is worth the wait. The cajun-fried grouper is an experience not to be missed. If you enjoy a good crab cake, stop here. They make some of the best ones I have ever had. It seems a bit pricey, until you realize it is all fresh. Delicious food, friendly service, and a real Mom and Pop feel.
I had the spicy steamed shrimp- unlike any steamed shrimp I’ve had before. Quite delicious! Will definitely go back! Hush puppies and fried shrimp dishes were also big hits with our group.
