Great Milkshakes! Supper kind staff great burgers. If your in the area stop by and give it a shot.
While out of my normal habitat I found myself nearby just before noon. As normal I consulted Google Maps for a local place on my route home. Matt's appeared. A quick perusal of the menu & it sounded like a slam dunk.Staff was prompt & friendly, answered the few questions I had politely & quickly despite a warm work place and incoming lunch rush. There is some inside seating but most is outdoors including a few tables in the old drive-thru lane which have umbrellas for shade. The single restroom is more like one from a convenience store, out back with some horrible water pressure & out of towels, right by the grease trap & the dumpsters.Food was good, tasty, hot and exactly as ordered and showed up quickly. Which is the most important thing.
Been wanting to go here for a while. Finally had time to stop by for lunch. It looked very good, but it wasn’t. The Chicago dog was nowhere near as good as other Chicago dogs I’ve had, let alone the ones in Chicago. It just tasted like a hot dog with relish. The chili cheese dog was also not very good. Salty. Pink’s chili cheese dogs are vastly superior. As a matter of fact, most chili dogs I’ve had were better than Red Hots. The onion rings were good and the staff was nice. Lucky Dawg in Golden Gate is much better. I really wanted to like this place but it just wasn’t very good ?
Sahlen's hot dogs cheese fries and loganberry true Western New York thank God outstanding food outstanding service very clean establishment
This place was a pleasant surprise. Great dogs and the fries are fresh as well!
First time visiting Matt’s Red Hots.Ordered a Chicago dog. Sign said made to order. Stood there almost 15 minutes until I got my hot dog. Then I saw why it took so long. Family sitting outside had ordered like 12 sausage sandwiches and fries ? I overheard another couple say “It takes a while but they’re worth the wait“.Well, it was worth the wait. That Chicago hot dog was the real deal. Dog had a great snap when I bit into it and great flavor. Not cheap but what food is these days. I think this hot dog was like $4.50.I will be back to try a different hot dog and the fresh cut French fries.
I really loved the chilli dog and enjoyed my Italian sausage dog as well. The fries were spectacular and the environment was very authentic.
For a great experience in no-frills American hotdoggery, go here.I took my mom here after an appointment with a nearby doctor. She had a craving for a good hot dog and Matt's was well-reviewed.The establishment isn't much to look at and the grounds leave much to be desired, but the food and service are great.Just keep in mind that your choices are relatively limited. There are fries and onion rings. There are four varieties of franks. Matt's has five house hot dog varieties. There's a chicken sandwich, chicken tenders, a few burger varieties and Italian sausage. Ice cream! They have a lot of it! Hand scooped with some fairly unique flavors. For those who are curious, there is a beverage that you certainly don't see in the south very much: Johnnie Ryan Cane Sugar Loganberry. What they offer here is done well, which means they have it where it counts.
Late Sunday afternoon lunch, almost 2pmOnly one table being used outsideDaughter wanted indoors but don’t think it was any cooler insideNo tables inside, just a bar with stools on either sideHot dogs were pretty good: bacon/Mac and my own creation, thought my kid would like the ‘skinless’ cuz it sounded like he would, but he preferred the regular dogMy favorite was the chili cheese fries by far!!Well coated with both chili & cheeseKids had a scoop of ice cream and a root beer float to top it offBy the time we were eating, line was out the door!Just wish they had a better seating area but we’d probably come back if in the area
Great place! The chicken tenders are the best around as are the fries. Can't go wrong with Royal Scoop ice cream to finish with either!! Staff are nice and friendly. What's not to like?
