Do not visit this place. They treat old people badly. I am over 75 and do recommend this place at all. They were very mean and rude to this older gal.
Always a great experience. Whenever we make it to Ft Lauderdale Umbertos is on our itinerary. The garlic knots, a’dente pasta and crisp pizza are a must have
Wow, Wow! Humberto blew away my expectations! Such a great Italian restaurant! The ambience was so beautiful, the food espectacular, generous portions, drinks were great and service was excellent! Prices very reasonable for the area. I will come back for sure to enjoy other menu items.
I am very sad and incredibly disappointed in Umberto's of New Hyde park located on east commercial Blvd in Fort Lauderdale. I am a long time fan and customer of the family owned restaurants for over 40 years. Originally from New York I frequently eat at the original restaurant in New Hyde park and I never had any issue with the quality of service or the food itself until I moved to Florida and ordered take out from the Lauderdale location. I ordered a chicken cutlet Parm hero along with escarole, sausage and bean entree. When I came home and opened the chicken Parm I couldn't believe what I saw. One very small very thin very over cooked cutlet with hardey any sauce and no mozzarella cheese. I tried to call the restaurant over and over again. It took 6 attempts before someone answered the phone. Then I was put on hold then finally when someone did come to the phone they were unable to help me. I requested a manager and was told there was no manager available. So I called again the very next day and again was told that there was no manager available. I insisted that a manager return my call so after a short while I received a call from a woman named Rosie. She stated that she was the manager. So I explained to Rosie what had happened and that I have been a long time customer of the family owned restaurants but Rosie did not seem to care! She said too bad. She said you ate the food and there was nothing she was willing to do! I said to Rosie all I wanted was to be taken care of the next time I came to the restaurant and she said no! She would not take care of me! What kind of manager is this? She also told me that she would not be held hostage by a unsatisfied customer! OMG!!! I have never been treated like this by any restaurant ever in my life? I will contact the Cotero family and the Illiano family to inform them of this horrible excuse of a manager and the lack of quality of the food that is being served at the Fort Lauderdale location! Again all I wanted was to be taken care of the next time I came to the restaurant. I wanted nothing for free just to be assured I would receive proper food.
My friend and I went to Umberto’s for dinner, because we wanted to try a different restaurant. We weren’t very hungry, so we ordered a chef salad and the “special” pizza, recommended by the waitress. Both items were GREAT! The chef salad was a very large portion, already cut up and ready to eat. It was so delicious! The pizza was served on a tall platter that kept the table from being too crowded, making it easy to enjoy. It was just the right size and baked to perfection! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience there, and I will be visiting again very soon for takeout!
AVOID THIS RESTAURANT. ***TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE*** I went for the first time last night to this restaurant. We ordered an array of things; stuffed artichoke, two cups of soup (pasta e fagiola and lentil), and meat ravioli. We asked for the artichoke to come out first (see photo) disgusting presentation. ONE cup of soup came out next, and 25 minutes after I got my cup of soup. But before this, the meat ravioli came out and was not cooked all the way through. I complained, wasn't offered a comp, and the manager never came to the table. I called the next day and the manager on shift refused to assist. I will never be back to this restaurant again. Worst service I ever received. I've made a complaint with the city for served raw, uncooked meat.UPDATE: REFUND RECEIVED. Still won't return and will leave my review posted to forewarn future customers.
Been coming here since I moved to Lauderdale-by-Sea. I love the Gramma's Pizza, the 4 Seasons, the crust, the toppings, salads and the garlic knots. So I would highly recommend it overall.Only complaint was some of the take-out staff is slow and not too swift. They have given my order away to delivery drivers and had to drive it back while I'm waiting at counter. They are forgetful with orders and requests and a couple times I got there on time but order wasn't ready. But good overall, visiting family and guests like it.
Highly recommend this place excellent Italian food
Nice place to eat with family and friends. Pizza was crispy and calamari were delicious.
I've seen reviews that are critical, but we had no complaints from our party of 4.... eggplant, veal, chicken.... all were pronounced delicious by our group....
