When the restaurant is closed the deli next door is open for shopping and food. Two small tables is all. Great food and service. There is a picnic table outside as well.
My go to place to get German homemade sausages, schnitzels, leberkase and cokd cuts. They also sell german imported products.
Another restaurant near Holiday Inn - the outside of the restaurant looks really rundown and you wonder if it's open but it is - and it is beautifully decorated once you walk through their front doors - you are transported into Heidelberg! We wanted to try the pork knuckle but it was probably too much for just 2 people with small appetites (American diners may find this not too much though & also we could takeaway any balance but that was an option we personally cannot take - sadly) so we opted to share an Oktoberfest platter comprising an assortment of sausages, smoked pork chop, meatball with mashed Potatoes and very generous servincs of delicious red cabbage and sauerkraut. The tomato soup was a bit sweet but that could be very sweet tomatoes and I liked it. The goulash soup was solid and filling . My Krombacher pilsner was great! We will have to return to try the pork knuckle one day
If you love German deli & German Products this is your go to place. Beers, Wines, Deli offerings and hard to find products are awaiting your visit! Now Oktoberfest can be every weekend!
Products are good, but with the arrogant attitude of the woman behind the counter she better go back to Germany. That's the reason why me and all my German friends go there never again.Re: Sad. First we live here in the US and here is no difference in that, second, sad because the around 50 times before we was always at "Du".
My wife's family is German so whenever our children or her family, and mine, come in to visit, we go to Old Heidelberg. Great food. German music, draft German beer. Always busy. Easy on-site parking. Great german bar too. everyone is so friendly. If you like real German food. Get here. Prost!
Outstanding German Deli. Recommend.
We love Jaiger schnitzel and some German restaurants don’t carry it. This one did and it came with soup, red cabbage and spatzel. We substituted sauerkraut for the red cabbage for an additional $2.50. Then we said we were splitting the meal since we were traveling and didn’t want leftovers. There is a $6.00 charge for that but they did give me a cup of soup also along with a plate with a portion of everything he got. We were stuffed when we left. Good food and they had Hafeweisen beer too.
I finally found german potato dumplings! Owner is really nice, she took the time to explain me how to cook it (instructions are in german). Definitely going back soon for more goodies! ??
A step back into our travels to Germany! The restaurant decor typical and real old style German building. The food - excellent with ice cold beer. We thoroughly enjoyed the pork tenderloin smothered in gorgonzola cheese with mashed potatoes, gravy and red cabbage. The service was friendly, fun and fabulous. They even had entertainment. A+++
