I was on vacation from California and wifey wanted soul food shorts ribs but they didn't have it so she got smothered pork chops greens and Mac I got Oxtails greens and Mac all the sides was fire ? but the pork chops wasn't fried right no flavor and the gravy wasn't homemade it tasted like can gravy and B4 u say we don't know soul food mom from Homer Louisiana and dad Jackson Mississippi I know soul food if they make real homemade gravy it would've been amazing
I haven't been here since they were located in Lauderdale Lakes. I had a craving for some soulfood that I didn't fill like preparing myself, so I decided to order here. I wasn't as pleased as I was in the past. Not as tasty as before! And I wasn't pleased with the stench as we entered the building.
Update: went back and got an turkey wing dinner. I asked the young nice lady sharing the food if they had yellow rice she insisted me that they only have white rice but the turkey wings gravy turns the rice into yellow rice. I was much confused. Thought this was soul food but it tasted ok, it was seasoned. But definitely Saźon season. Not a soul food dish. And not enough meat for the price. Not at temperature awful candy yams. This particular day the staff seemed moody against each other,Eyes rolling, attitude, etc.Stopped here while in the area, haven’t had soul food in awhile. Didn’t get food but I got a dessert. The food looked okay! Not much appealing to me but the banana pudding caught my attention before it was dished. It was ok but never been served HOT banana pudding I’m assuming it was homemade and baked. But still was served oven at temperature. But the taste was there… on the other hand THE CASHIER WOMAN ATTITUDE AND CUSTOMER SKILLS IS POOR! such a reflect of the business. All I can say is you can take someone out the h00d for a job to do better but you can’t take it out of them! Need to leave that mess at home. So so so unprofessional the way she talked to customers even on the phone and was my first time here, I decided to get back in line and order food after ordering just a dessert, she caught a attitude with me I just decided to just leave and not order based on that attitude I possibly will not be back!
Best soul food I have found in South Florida. Great atmosphere family run and extremely friendly to me and my girlfriend.
I must say I'm a girl who grew up on soul food. I moved to Miami from Ny and I missed thoose home cooked meals my momma and grandmother made. I've been searching for a spot and I came across this place and I must say my first meal was great. It touched my soul, the string beans and mac & chesse was great. The staff was great, my now go to place. Thank you for the great service and great food.
The pork chops, black eyed peas, and Mac n cheese were delicious. The portions were generous. I can't wait to go back and try other dishes
The owner displays AMAZING Custoner Service. And the staff is a direct reflection of him. Great environment because of it. And the food, tastes great!
My experience at this place is very good I love brother soul food heaven I always go there everywhere he moves I find him and I go there because the food are great it don't make burgers are the best in the world I advise you all to go visit my brother soul food heaven I love it and the food is great try it you might like it
I ordered turkey wings with collard greens, (well it was cabbage and a little collard greens), I really wanted collard greens. Mac and cheese was apart of the sides. The food was okay. I've had better.
