Why is it so hard to find fresh Atlantic oysters with a shady patio that flaunts a boats-galore view in Miami? Sure, there’s Shuckers, Monty’s, and the occasional Duffy’s, but as a New England native, we take our mollusks more seriously than the generic “MKT” offering. An oyster shouldn’t be the size of your palm, it shouldn’t be too creamy, warm, or oddly plump. A perfect oyster is crisp and lean, it tastes like the salt lick waves of the sea and gives you goosebumps like an icy cold (and dry) Riesling from the Saar. So, I’m glad we finally crossed-off Fort Lauderdale's G & B Oyster Bar after a personal, two-year waitlist. With daily oyster specials, it’s hard to pick your favorite salty friends at G & B. We settled on a 50/50 mix of Wild Gooses (RI) and Spindrifts (MA), complemented by old-fashioned Lance saltines, a lip-smacking shallot mignonette, and a house cocktail sauce, decadently tangy and sweet. Then, there’s the must-have “Surf n’ Surf” which pairs sweet chunks of herbed, garlicky crab atop savory, grilled oysters (wow!) With homey style service, an eye-candy view of football-field yachts and big, lazy tarpon, G & B serves-up the best of coastal Florida, one delicious wave at a time.
I have been coming to G&B for over 15 years. It’s been a few years since I’ve been since the pandemic started and I live in Canada. That being said it’s always been the same food and the same service. This time we went they changed their formula for the lobster rolls and discontinued the alligator ribs. The were two staple items that I have literally enjoyed consistently for over a decade and was always part of the itinerary whenever we would visit florida (usually 1-2 timesPer year). The lobster roll was packed with lobster as usual but it lost its charm being served in the little rolls with cheese and bacon. This was now served cold and was a more mature taste but it lacked it previous flavour. The lack of alligator ribs was also a missed favourite but changes happen. The grilled oysters were delicious and had a good kick to them. To top it off the coconut cheesecake with berry drizzle was phenomenal. Staff taking the booking at the front were somewhat unpleasant but our waitress was great and helpful with making suggestions. This has been the most consistent restaurant I’ve ever visited so it was disappointing to see the menu changed after over 10 years of having the exact same items that we grew to love. If you are patient enough to wait for the outdoor seating with a view, it’s worth it. Expect minimum 30 min wait times on almost any day or time you visit.
Fresh seafood. Never disappoints! Just had Mahi. It was done perfectly. Love this place but after 6:30 it’s so crowded!!
This place provides the best service and the best food. Everything was great from drinks to the food
Great location, superb food, relaxing atmosphere, great service
Honestly thank god for their incredibly kind wait staff. However if you’re looking for decent sea fair, I’d take your taste buds elsewhere. For the quality of food served…..the price point is a little high. Lobster roll was dry and rubbery. Very disappointed.
This restaurant was right across the street from my hotel (Hotel Maren); what a find! Get there early, they are super busy. The oysters were SO fresh! And service was great.

Outstanding s service and food. Our waitress was personable and made the experience great. The appetizer of crab was some of the best I’ve had. The snapper fish dinner special was also excellent. Highly recommended!
Thank you to the wait staff and the valet team. Says a lot about the place when your greeted with such warmth and smiles. They have both indoor and outdoor sitting. Very busy place yet we were seated rather quickly. Our table was inside with a perfect view.On to the food…. I was a little disappointed that they no longer had the alligator ribs seen in photos online because that was apart of my reasoning for coming next to the oysters. We ordered the oysters, the peel and eat shrimp, blackberry mojito, a beer, a lobster BLT and the jambalaya. We ended up sending the jambalaya back. It was way too salty and the chicken seemed fake in tasting. I was not impressed by the shrimp either. The lobster BLT was delicious and the grilled oysters were so good we ordered another round. The scenery up the road coming is beautiful as well. I will be back to give some other items on the menu a try and walk the shopping area as well that is near by.
