Wonderful service, Amazing food, and a warm authentic decore. Would highly recommend. You really forget you’re in south Florida. 10/10
I absolutely love the ambiance of this German restaurant. I love how they have different areas/rooms for eating in. We were pretty loud but having a rather private room made it really easy to be able to still hear each other and not feel like we were a disruption to everyone else. The food was fantastic and the drinks were great. Our wait staff was really personable, and helped make our time here even more perfect. The details in decor are absolutely fabulous. So much to see all over this restaurant. I highly recommend it!
Our party of 7 people went on a busy Saturday night. We made reservations on the day of and had no problems getting seated right away when we got there. We ordered some pig wings, which were grilled pork legs with a light coating of bbq sauce. They were tender and well seasoned. I would have like them with a bit more BBQ sauce. For our main entrees we ordered fish, Schnitzel, Prime Rib and some other dishes. Everything was great and everyone also agreed. The prime rib was perfectly done, ordered rare with a wonderful au jus on the plate. The server (forgot her name) was great as well, she made plenty of recommendations that came out as described. Overall, a well-hidden gem of Broward and will surely come back.
An unassuming, family-owned gem that’s been serving up authentic German food and drink in East Ft. Lauderdale for over 40 years.I can’t say enough good things about The Ambry - step inside and it’s like being transported to a pub in Munich. Their menu looks like what I saw when I visited Germany and food tastes just as good.Their early bird comes with soup (go with the French onion), salad that includes fresh German potato salad and slaw plus dessert for ~$23 is one of the best deals in town.I opt for the paprika schnitzel and spaetzle because it’s always perfectly cooked and smothered in a delicious sauce, but their prime rib is also legendary and I’d put it up against any other restaurant in town including Morton’s or Blue Moon. They also have a unique rotating seasonal selection of beers from the homeland and the service never disappoints.5/5 stars for The Ambry.
Spinach soup overly salty. Waitress was defensive. Meat not done. She came back when Bill was due. I have had good meals but not today.
've been going here for a long time and confess my surprise at seeing the Yelp reviews under "Muellers Gerd Ambry Restaurant" instead of just under "Ambry," as it is commonly known, and as is stated on their menu. But be that as it may, Ambry is the long time local area icon of German Food, long predating the recent new comers such what was Fritz and Franz Beirhaus (now kaput) or Checkers Old Munchen.Ambry is the smaller more rustic looking of the three, with old wooden chairs, table and a dinning area, sort of split up into comfy alcoves offering pleasant intimacy and an opportunity for good conversation. Their food and their service is also excellent with my favorite foods being their Zuricher Geschentzeltes (veal smothered with a creamy mushroom sauce) and their Sauerbraten. The Zuricher which is a veal/mushroom cream dish delightfully enhanced with a wine or cognac finish. As for any liver dish, Ambry does it the best of any, and to my knowledge the only one to have offerings like Norwegian Salmon (my like probably because I'm actually a Swede) and creamed herring (darn Germans always cream their herring instead of doing a dill pickling....another one my Swedish peccadilloes) for appetizers. They also have a very nice bar, most popular in early evening as well as into the very late evening hours. It gets crowded and the crowd is generally both friendly and fun. There is also a small outside sort of open air but semi enclosed area for conversation and smoking, where I can often be found wondering out to enjoy my drink away from the bustle of things.Front
We used to live in Germany. This is the most authentic German restaurant we have found in Ft Lauderdale. And, they treat you like old friends! The atmosphere makes you feel like you are in the Old Country. The food is excellent!!We will be making this a favorite place to eat!! ?
