Neat location under the Amelia River bridge. The inside is clean and open to the outside view. Service is okay. Had refills unattended to, refills filled by another waitress, and had to get the check from another waitress. The portions are not what is expected with the price. Don’t go thinking the quantity will match the cost…. There are other seafood places just a few miles further. We had the shrimp tacos, garlic shrimp, and the soup and salad.
Came here for lunch at 2 pm on a Wednesday and it was packed. We’ve been here before and liked it. Looking forward to trying again when it is less crowded.
I really wanted Conch Fritters but realize it is different from Daytona Beach location. The Spicy Fried Shrimp was good, fried well had a nice crunch. Didn't really care for the Crab Cake you couldn't taste the crab it was kinda muddled and flat on taste. The live music was nice. Server didn't seem to care to ask if I liked anything, she was really more concerned with ending Her shift.
Just left. Just left with a family, still hungry. 8 small shrimp on their "dinner" with 1 side. Catch of the Day was about 3 inches x 3 inches. My baked potato was actually bigger than my piece fish.. No bread. No salad. Nothing else comes with dinner. Just and entree and a side. Our server was nice, but didn't do a good job. We were all finished with our meal, before she came back to check on us. I've been coming to Down Under since I was a child. This was my last visit.
Peel & eat shrimp - not fresh, overcooked & mushy Hamburger ordered “medium well” arrived rare Chicken was fried in fish grease & tasted like fish Seafood Platter was meager and arrived 10 minutes after other plates were served. Restaurant was out of cole slaw, chips, several things
Seafood Platter was very good as was the chicken breast dinner blackened (2 breasts served). However the shrimp on the happy hour lunch menu was not tasty. Too much batter and not flavorful. Also there are only 6 shrimps served.
I would have given this place 5 stars if the fried pickles were crispier, I'm a fried pickle fanatic I must admit! Overall, the service was good and the food came out quickly. Large portion sizes perfect for sitting and staying a while or sharing - fish and chips alone could feed two people. The fish tacos weren't authentic but still tasty. Both the regular and sweet potato fries are great with a soft interior and crisp outside. I'll definitely be back!
We had a great dinner. We got the crab dip as an appetizer and it was amzing. The shrimp were good, the sides were ok. I was expecting more from the cheese grits and coleslaw. Neither were bad, just not as good as I had hoped. Both meals came with hush puppies and they were tasty as well. Finished the meal with an excellent turtle brownie. The service was very good and friendly.
Shrimp and oysters were over cooked. French fries were not cooked enough.
Not a good experience tonight. Food mediocre at best. Seafood overcooked and fries undercooked. Service slow. Very disappointing.
