The meal was very good. The steaks were cooked perfectly. The service was outstanding. Lilly continued to check on us to make sure we had everything we wanted.
We called about 6:30 pm on the Saturday night before Father's Day. They offered a reservation for 7:00 pm. The restaurant had a pleasant atmosphere. It was very busy but the staff was pleasant and helpful. The Angel's Petite Filet was cooked exactly as I wanted it. It was extremely tender, flavorful, and juicy. The baked potato was, well, a baked potato. The vegetable medley was like something out of several cans with a lot of spices tossed in. We didn't go for the potato or the veggies. The steak was superb! Thank you for accommodating us at the last minute. It would have been nice if there was a quieter area. It was difficult to have a nice conversation for the level of noise.
Great experience at Baxter’s after our round of golf at Amelia River . Hostess was friendly and waitress was great . The Ribeyes were fantastic perfectly cooked . I saw some negative reviews but figured we would give it a shot and really glad we did . We had a great meal with great service from entry to exit . Thank you Baxter’s !
Went there last night with a local couple and truly had an awful experience. First of all they are clearly understaffed and that being the case they should not have offered specials. One special was beef stroganoff which was served with penne pasta instead of egg noodles—big mistake. Second the sauce was gooey instead of light and inviting. The next meal ordered was veal piccata. The veal was breaded like you’d do for veal parmigiana! The sauce was white and tasteless and not the expected light lemon, butter, white wine sauce. Lastly was the Caesar salad which was tasteless, no croutons, no anchovies and no fresh Parmesan. When I spoke to the owner about this his response was “We have the best Caesar salad on the island, just ask anybody!” A truly awful experience that took 2 1/2 hours to survive and only tolerated by the attentive service by Mike, the bartender who was severely overwhelmed but endured.
I went to Baxter's with my family I hadn't seen in a while. We expected a good meal and nice conversation. We received 2 meals that were cold, with one steak over cooked and so much noise we could not hear what the other person at our table was saying. My sister n' law talked to the manager and he basically brushed her off. We won't be returning there ever again. For a $200 meal it was not worth It. Buyer beware.
Location is inviting and busy for a Saturday night. Nice looking and packed bar, however, we soon found that their highball & mixed drink glasses are unusually small. Being a cold night, the French Onion Soup, as an appetizer, sounded good...but 4 of our party of 6 found it too hot and virtually tasteless; adding salt didn't help. Home baked bread is very good. Our entrees were typical bar food, fried, blackened or grilled, cooked OK and served with little regard for presentation, which would be fine if priced as regular bar food should be. Prices are more in the 5 star range. Overall impression of our party of 6 was that Baxter's is more of a tourist trap than some place you'd care to return to.
As we drove by them, their sign promised the best local steaks - and they delivered! We had an enjoyable and tasty meal, at a price that didn't break the bank, served quickly and professionally by their staff. I would recommend this dining venue before some of the other most expensive places on Amelia Island. The steaks were very good!!
I like this restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was alright. They got a few things mixed up and did not give my distant relative their wine, and almost charged us for it. The bread was fresh and my Caesar salad was amazing! I got the filet Henry the 4th and it was good, perfectly cooked to medium rare just how I like it. The baked potato and vegetables on the side went with it as well. Overall this is a good place for good bathrooms, service, food, and even a good place to bring distant relatives.
We had mixed results. We got a reservation the day we needed it, when other places were all booked. They were short staffed when we went but our server was still attentive. The interior looked clean including our booth, and the restroom was clean. The drinks were good but slow in coming. A nice, small loaf with butter came w /salads. The Surf n Turf was very good and cooked exactly right. But my NY Strip was mostly gristle and fat. I cut into the middle after my first bite on the end, but every bite was tough to enjoy. The potatos were great. The salad was good also dressing on the side so you can use as much as you wish. The vegetable medly was good with whole green beans, squash and zucchini. Looks like if you only order the Surf n Turf or just that steak, you will be happy here.
Baxter's is always a delight. This is a wonderful and cozy, yet elegant place to share good wine and food with friends and family without feeling rushed. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. Exceptional steak and ribs! Prices are decent as well.
