Got the whole snapper, 10/10 recommend. Great fresh taste! Don't forget the lemon! My wife got the shrimp and grits and said it's the best she's ever had.The garlic mashed potatoes were a bit of a let down, expected a lot more flavor. Will definitely come back!
Went there 6/30 as we saw they had soft shell crabs. We recently moved from Maryland and haven't been able to find crabs of any type here. I had the fried soft shell crab. It was perfectly fried and a decent size. The only disappointment was that it was not served with a sauce on the side. I am accustomed to eating soft shells in MD at Thai restaurants which are served with a sauce. However, this was quite good and I would recommend it. The highlight of the evening was our server, Alexandra B. She was so attentive, answering our numerous questions, very efficent and friendly. We will ask for her as our server on our next visit.
Some of the best grouper sandwiches I have ever had. Some wonderful homemade soups and the menu is varied. Prices are reasonable and a fish shack atmosphere adds to the experience. Would highly recommend it.
I'm a local. have been eating at this place for years and watched the quality go downhill as it changed hands several times. Their mullet and catfish dinners used to be pan fried, reasonably priced and delicious. Not anymore!!! Last night I had the worst fish dinner of my life there. Prices are up 50% and the quality of the food sucked. so heavily battered and deep fried that I had to dig to find the tiny pieces of fish in the breading. even the coleslaw was not as good as usual. I've had tastier fish at McDonalds. I can still taste the grease the morning after. I've never written a review before but feel the need to warn people. They have no right to call themselves a seafood restaurant anymore.
Excellent crab cakes, actually Maryland style and not just described that way. Local beers were a nice touch
Goat cheese and blue crab dip is amazing. If you love hand cut fries, be sure to order them as your side.
For a fish shack atmosphere with beer and fish sandwiches, they do that very well at Hogisland. The outdoor dining areas were nice as well.
Food was just excellent. Wife had blackened mahi. Perfectly seasoned, not bland, not overly spicy. Just perfect seasoning. The fries she ordered were perfect (not some doggy frozen stuff, but real Potatoes). I had a special. It was called unicorn fish with shrimp. (firm, mild). I had it grilled. Next time I’ll get it blacked because that seasoning was so good. Not too expensive but not inexpensive. Service was very good. We sat outside and were well taken care of. No wait to be seated on a Saturday night. My wife’s sangria was very good as well.
Place is much larger than it looks driving up. You have the front outdoor patio, a back outdoor patio, the interior, and an extended indoor room. We got the local salad and strawberry salad both with grouper. Both had great flavor and the grouper was fresh. Service was very friendly and the drinks were also tastey. I definitely would recommend this spot and go back.
Thank you for being dog friendly! The patio was super clean and we were met with a fresh bowl of water for the pups (love that)! The doggy menu was too cute. Our human food was amazing. I had the mahi sandwich with Cole slaw and it was so delicious! Highly recommend!
