Cafe Alfresco has always been a "go to" spot for lunch for my husband and me. Unfortunately, today's experience has changed that. Things were going well until we began our entrees. I order the pulled chicken sandwich special. The chicken was moist and flavorful and the roll was soft and tasty. The portion was large so I cut it in half. When I bit into the last bite of that first half, I bit into a big piece of skin and grizzle. Okay, that happens. The next bite was all fatty chicken skin. I picked up the op of the roll and more than 1/2 of the remaining sandwich was skin and grizzle. The waitress apologized and asked it I wanted something else. I said, " no thanks, I kind of lost my appetite. I'll take a box for my dog." She took the plate and returned saying she told the chef and manager and would like to offer me a free dessert. Again, I said " no thanks but if you'd like to take the price of a dessert off the bill, that would be very nice." That's when she said, " well, you're taking the sandwich home so it's full price. If you give us back the sandwich, I'll take it off the bill." I told her to please take the sandwich and take it off the bill. RIDICULOUS! I wasn't asking for the whole thing to be comped but, apparently, it was all or nothing. We never saw a manager and were treated like we were trying to pull a fast one, despite the pile of skin and grizzle on my plate. Having worked my way through high school and college as a server, we still tipped on what would have been the full bill, but will not go back. The attached photo is all the inedible pieces in only part of a sandwich.
the food is very good and the employees are so friendly. the service is also wonderful.
The service, food and staff were excellent. The Chicken Piccata and Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes were amazing! We come here each time we visit!
Excellent dinner with my Mom for Mother's Day! Food is always good! Service was excellent! Definitely will go there again!
The 4 of us were looking for a dinner that would be prepared and served, allowing us time to get to the Dunedin High School production of the Adams Family. We shared the crab cake dinner with asparagus. For a $4 extra plate we each got two delicious crab cakes in a short time and were able to get to the play in plenty of time. Our waiter, Woody, was very accomondating. Atmosphere at Cafe Alfresco was relaxing and we did some 'people watching' of those passing out on the Pinellas trail. The DHS production was of 5 star quality as well.
Crab Cakes where moist and flavorful and slightly more spicy then I am used to but it is a Cajun taste. I enjoy. The rice was plain but just right and the asparagus was excellent. They gave us one roll each. The other mark was Sesame Salmon. Taste was good but was not cooked enough for our taste.
Dunedin, Florida is a special town located just north of Clearwater, Florida and whenever we visit the area, Cafe Alfresco is a must do for some of the best meals anywhere. The staff is always super friendly and the restaurant always busy and that is a good sign for sure. The food is prepared to order and always fresh. Lots of great choices and their desert menu is out of this world. Key lime pie is worth the extra calories!
Great food , wait staff was very efficient
I went there first for a brunch on a Sunday with my mom and my sister. I was so happy they were serving their full brunch menu, as I'm not a breakfast food person. I was able to order their delicious seared tuna while my sister and mother could get their egg dishes. Our server was Jenny and she was friendly and answered all our questions about the area. I was so taken with the place, that the following week, I brought friends there for lunch where I ordered the chicken and walnut salad which was just as tasty as my first meal there. The portions are generous and the staff is just attentive enough - they're always there when you need something, but not hovering. The atmosphere is casual with an indoor and outdoor area. It appeared that dogs were allowed to sit with their people in the outdoor area. It looks like I'll be going back to area yearly, and this will definitely be a stop I make every year.
Best restaurant for us on two occasions during our three night stay in Dunedin. It was in a picture-perfect location, downtown, outdoors, adjacent to the bike path, with pleasant décor, no obnoxious music, good service, and great food. They didn’t take reservations, so we decided to get there early (for dinner) to avoid the rush, and then for lunch midweek when there wasn’t any either. Between my wife and me, our tables benefited from chicken curry, chicken parmesan, chicken & smoked sausage gumbo, Greek salad, and sesame crusted salmon. All was very good, and most dishes cost in the mid to high teens. For the top or near top-rated restaurant in town, this felt reasonable to me. From my particular vantage point, the chicken curry was mighty tasty, chicken parmesan massive and heart-warming, and smoked sausage gumbo incredibly filling. That alone could have served as an entire meal. Service here was prompt and extremely pleasant. I really liked our waiters (first was a young mellow dude who had just started; the second was a gal from Ohio with a family member at University of Ashland). Another highlight was my blueberry mojito – best drink I’ve had in ages. Cherry Wonderdog bestows a solid five stars and four paws up to Café Alfresco. Enjoy!
