Without a doubt the best meal I have ever had. I had the snapper over pasta. I believe it's the first dish listed in the "standards" section. Basically our table had the first 3 dishes under standards, a few appetizers and the kids had the burger. They were all phenomenal. My husband had the chef's special for the night. It was some kind of tuna dish with a summer salad. I cannot explain how good my dish, the snapper and pasta was. Usually pasta is very filling and I was prepared to be miserable. To my surprise, I was able to finish the entire thing and it was divine. The pasta is made in house. We had a 2.5 hours wait. We were initially told 1 hour 45 minutes, so just be prepared to wait. Go outback to their beach area and watch the boats, the planes and play some games. There are comfy chairs and hammocks. It was a nice wait. Get drinks at the bar and kick back and wait. It is worth it. Be prepared to spend money. The food is not cheap, about $40-50 a person average I would say, plus drinks. Our bill for 4 was about $260. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable. He knew every dish and was able to suggest dishes based on what we liked. He was very busy but was very attentive, keeping drinks filled and our food came out timely. It was a great dining experience all around. During dinner, there was a fireworks show very close and we had the perfect table/view of them. You will not be disappointed if you decide to dine at Boshamps.
The wait wasn't bad they had lots of stuff to do while you waited for a table. They are family friendly. They also have a few bars to order from while waiting. Once we were seated our waiter took our drink order and appetizers. They were out fast. As soon as we got or appetizers he took our order and our food was out before we finished our appetizers. The food was AMAZING,!! THE BEST FOOD AROUND. We had a few locals tell us about it and they weren't wrong about it. Definitely if you get a chance you got to try it. The food prices were decent but on the high end. Definitely worth it.
Bartender Gritz was very condescending and rude. I ordered a Lemon Martini and he asked me how I wanted it mixed(?) I didn't go to Bartending school?? We had an hour 1/2 wait and one of us had to stand around the bar. We ordered appetizers and he said only those sitting to eat, so we went to pull up 1 extra chair and was told we couldn't do that. He missed his tip opportunity. He needs a job he enjoys, it's obviously not Bartending. Many more bars in Destin to spend your money.
Food was very good. The gulf shrimp roll was truly impressive. Oysters Boshamps and Oysters Bienville were also very well-executed. However, I had to go for lunch when I would have much preferred going for dinner. But, dinner waits are often in excess of 3 hours. The food is good, but not that good. Waiting for an hour and a half for a lunch portion of good food made for a reasonably pleasant experience. It would be amazing if the food were more accessible. Dinner could be super nice and fun, but it's gonna kill your entire evening.
The food and service was excellent!! We highly recommend the Pina Colada. Best I have ever had. We went early and didn’t have a wait.
I always really want to enjoy Boshamps. It's so pretty and fun. The place is huge and is a delight to be in. The food is good. But the wait is just too.dang.long. We took family on a recent trip and everyone was miserable after waiting 3 hours for a table. It's just not worth that. We tried to make the best of it by playing corn hole but you just get HUNGRY and cranky and when your kids just want chicken strips it's too much to ask. They have very good oysters. I trust them and they are fresh and delicious. The fish entree I had was good but smaller portions than some places so no leftovers. At a normal place, I would be thrilled for a human-sized portion. After a 3 hour wait, I want a Flintstone meal. If it's just my fam of 4 and we can go at an off time, I will go again in a heartbeat. I just can't ever go again at dinner or with a group. Sorry Boshamps!
We met with my wife's cousins for dinner to catch up and enjoyed a great meal. My wife and I shared "The Original" Snapper Destin. It was mashed red potatoes, with Red Snapper, Grilled Gulf Shrimp, Braised Collared Greens, honey roasted peanuts, and an amazing sauce. We also ordered the cheese grits and southern mac and cheese. The grits were outstanding, thick and cheesy. I would highly recommend this as a stop for anyone that enjoys good seafood. The waiting staff were hard-working and did a great job of recommending entrees.
When you walk up there is a long line of people, and the wait is 2 and one half hours, you might think you are getting something special. Not at this place. We waited that long and they have a limited menu for a seafood place and we were even sat in front of the band. Had oysters, that were ok, the smoked dipped was plentiful and the calamari was OK. Two of our diners had chicken which they said was ok, i and a grandson had some peel and eat shrimp, two other in the party had a house special. But two and a half hours, no way should anyone wait that long unless the food is free. We went two three other restaurants and the food was just as good a bit less expensive and no long wait.
I took my girlfriends visiting from out of town to Bochamps after a sunset dolphin cruise on Destin Harbor. I couldn’t believe it, but we were turned away at 8:30 on a Friday night. They were not seating any more guests. How embarasssing! I had played it up as the best place for local seafood off the dock and great live music. On a Friday night, seating stopped at 8:15. Oh, did I mention that it is peak season? Unbelievable!
Dinner with a friend. The wait for a table was about 2 hours, but we got a seat at the bar in about 15-20 minutes and ate at the bar. Raw oysters and Boshamps' oysters were fresh and fabulous. The gumbo was delicious, but the chowder was just average. The bartenders who served us were all attentive and provided excellent service. Located directly on the Bay with a small beach area. Parking can be difficult. Great spot and highly recommend.
