New location, not worth the trip. Ordered the mussels with garlic sauce, the best thing we ordered there, only came with 3 small pieces of lightly baked white bread. Great sauce but limited bread, asked for more bread, got 3 more slices for 80 cents. Spent over $100 for two people and they have to charge you 80 cents for extra bread and $3.33 for not paying cash. We live locally and won’t be back. Also monitor your check, there was a charge for something we didn’t order too. Was supposed to be happy hour, got charged full rate, had it changed.
I’m so glad we decided to try this place . Our server Joseph was awesome. The food and happy hour drinks so good. Compliments to the chef best steak I have ever had! Gumbo spot on red beans cook perfectly but need a little more spice for my husband he’s Cajun and loves the heat . This is a must try place here in Destin ! Yummy
We’ve always found this to be a great place to eat! Go for lunch, happy hour, or anytime! Good food, great service. Love the new location!! Try it, you’ll like it!
Out of all the locations that were available I was so happy we chose 790!! The drinks were absolutely exquisite and our server was top tier!! The appetizer and salad was enough to fill me up. The main dish had me ready for a nap!! 10/10 we have to back to try the desserts
We went to go celebrate my boyfriends birthday. We were excited to try the new location. We ordered the beignets and they were not New Orleans style. Instead they were made of doughy dry ciabatta. Then the waitress encouraged my boyfriend and I to add the hash brown casserole alongside the grits in the Southern Style breakfast. When the meals came out, the avocado in the chicken salad was rancid and the chicken salad itself looked like it was sitting in the fridge for the week. The southern style breakfast was all cold and the breakfast didn’t come with the grits just the hash browns. When we got the bill and it showed the charge for the hash browns, when we asked if the charge could be removed because we never got the original side that came with the meal, the waitress looked at us and said it was easier for her to bring us the grits. So she brought us the grits and it was a bowl of cheese. Overall it was a waste of 30 dollars. The manager refunded the whole meal after we explained the whole situation

We have always LOVED 790 at the hotel but in January we visited the new location and I ordered chicken salad and it was the worst chicken salad I’ve ever eaten.
We were anxious to try a new restaurant in Destin as we are locals. We were sat a large booth which had the table so close to the persons sitting in the booth that it was very uncomfortable but we didn't say anything. We ordered our 4 year old's meal first to come out with the appetizer but it never arrived until after all the adult meals were severed even though we asked several times for it. HIs child's lemonade was $8.00!! We were charged $50.00 for a $30.00 bottle of wine. My son ordered the crab cakes they were served all alone on a plate with a small black plastic condiment container of coleslaw the menu said $29.00 we were charged $35.00. The waiter could not speak English so we had to point to everything on the menu that we needed. As local Destin, Ft Walton, Santa Rosa Beach residents we were very disappointed.
Sunday Brunch: As I'm easily identifiable as walking disabled, it was unexpected when the greeter lithly led us across the restaurant to seating farthest from the entrance to an extremely uneven table. From there the disappointment continued. A too spicy Bloody Mary, a bland tasteless shrimp/ crayfish gumbo, average beignets, & almost soggy breaded grouper. Wish we had gone elsewhere!
In September 2020, we visited 790 on the Gulf in its original location. The view of the gulf, brunch, and the staff were all fantastic. In October, we decided to get married in Destin. We hired a wedding vendor who recommended 790 on the Gulf for a 15 to 20 party reception. We were disappointed to find that the location would be moving before our wedding date of 12/30 and would no longer be on the gulf. We decided to move forward with having dinner at 790 because it was one of the only locations that allowed us to decorate, bring outside desserts, and they had a great catering menu. Christine, the Event Planner, was simply amazing. I arrived in Destin a few days before the wedding. Christine worked with me from beginning to end to ensure my family had a great experience. I dropped off decorations and had flowers delivered to the new location. Christine and the team took care of the rest. They also picked up our cake!! After our ceremony on the beach, we made the short drive to the restaurant. The back room was decorated beautifully. There was a bride and groom table, a cake table, and a table for our guests. The food and drinks were great. Ken and David ensured we had everything needed for a fantastic night. Thank you, Christine and team, for a beautiful experience. I highly recommend 790 for family gatherings or a night out with friends. We are looking forward to having dinner there again on our next visit to Destin.
