Located just south of the Avenue in Delray Beach is the mainstay La Cigale, which serves up a cross between various Mediterranean cuisines with focus on French and Italian flavors. The crowd, on one hand, made me feel quite youthful as we were the only ones not with gray on top I recollect, but managed to feel slightly out of place as well. Nonetheless, it was quite enjoyable as they had an older gentlemen singing hits by Sinatra and other classics along those lines. As for the menus there was nothing creative or out of the ordinary I would have liked to have seen so we opted for the grilled lamb chops were cooked rather well and flavorful. Nothing mind blowing, but worth getting. The chicken francese, pictured, was generous in portion, fresh and tender, rather enjoyable. Again, not the best I’ve had, but if I ended up here it would be a possible repeat. With a supremely friendly bartender that served us, it was a lovely meal.
3/23/22 Dinner - Enjoyable atmosphere especially the crooner music and the manager’s personal greeting to our table shortly after arrival. The food was superb but was disappointed after two of our party of four ordered the fresh Dover Sole at market price. The fish was served deboned and filleted on the plate but menus stated it would be deboned and filleted table side which is the correct way to serve this dish. Surprisingly, when we commented about this to our waitress she flippantly said, well, next we will try to filet it closer to your table. The menu said, table side! Very disappointing and killed our appetite for desert and coffee.
If you find yourself in Delray Beach area and you enjoy exquisite French cuisine this is the place for you. A staff knowledgeable, courtesy and helpful compliment a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Francis is a step above the average owner/chef in every way. I will not only be back, I will make great effort to do so. Thank you all at La Cigale for a wonderful dinner.
Enjoyed the 40th anniversary of my father and stepmother. Ate the veal sweetbread, rainbow trout, and had a sampling of desserts of which all my siblings shared. All the food i ate was delicious.
Exceptional.Service..food and entertainment and we drive 2 hours to get to our favorite restaurant..kay and Jon
If you value your teeth stay the heck away from this place! I’ve busted 2 teeth the last two visits biting into their stale bread!!!!
A couple blocks south of The Avenue, La Cigale is a refreshing breath of serenity and wonderful food. The food is literally a symphony of flavors; especially the Seafood Provencale and Orrechiette Pasta. The broth in both dishes was so good we asked for some more bread to sop up the precious liquid. Service is beyond impeccable! These people are fully invested in what they do. I was literally scrolling thru the list of Delray restaurants looking for some place new. We struck gold with La Cigale!! We will definitely be back!
Outstanding! Brian was amazing.
