This is a historic establishment in a rural setting. Food and service was very good and average priced. We had a party of 4. We ordered the pick 3 appetizer and boom boom shrimp. They were very good and highly recommended. We also had burgers which were very filling and flatbread pizza. It was all delicious. We dined outside which is also recommended. The atmosphere is rustic and charming.
Husband and I had a disappointing experience tonight. We were served outside by the bartender. When we were seated, the bar area was fairly empty. Once the bar started filling up, our server stopped seeing us. This was shortly after we put in our food order. My husband finished his soda before the appetizer was brought out, and I finished mine not long after. When the food came, my husband’s steak was well-done, but he had ordered it medium-rare. We waited for the server to come by to let her know, but she never did. I am a notoriously slow eater and managed to finish my entire entree and sides, and still no service. After sitting for ten more minutes, I managed to catch the server’s attention at the bar. About five minutes later, she came over, at which point she became aware of the issue. We got his meal comped, as we didn’t want to wait another half hour for just his food, but it was an extremely disappointing experience. This was supposed to be his birthday dinner, and we ended up going to Popeye’s afterwards for him. The steak being overdone was not really an issue, but not being checked on for almost 45 minutes was. On busy weekend nights, the bartender should probably not have their own tables, or they should hand off to a dedicated server if it starts to get busy. Aside from the steak, the food itself was very good.
Stopped by Sunday afternoon. Sat outside in nice surroundings. Had brute champagne, good and dry. Also enjoyed the calamari, crab cakes, French onion soup and steak & blue cheese flat bread. All good and was seasoned well and came out at right temperature. Friendly server.
This area has a serious lack of restaurants offering brunch. I was disappointed when I found out the Stockyard discontinued their brunch. However, the menu selection was enough to be a decent brunch spot when you're trying to avoid the downtown DeLand Bike Week traffic. The hostess seated us quickly and it wasn't busy at 11:30 when we got there.Thankfully, they still served mimosas and we had excellent service which lessened the "no brunch" blow. We ordered the Boom Boom Shrimp and Gator Tail as appetizers. They didn't quite stand out against our other meals but not bad either. They could have used a pop in flavor but we're good enough to order again. The boys ordered the French Dip and Blackened Prime Rib sandwiches with fries. Their fries are a crispy thick curly fry and a perfect combination with prime rib sandwiches. I am picky with my fry texture and taste and think they were both unique and perfectly prepared.I ordered the Steak Tips and they were an excellent brunch substitute. They came out in a mini cast iron pan filled with melted garlic butter. You could dip anything in that mixture and suddenly it would be the best thing you have ever eaten. The Tomahawk Steak was an impressive way to start our Saturday morning. Topping the steak with sauteed mushrooms gave it a little extra flavor and was a nice pairing. If you come certain nights there will be a different vibe with live music and good menu specials. The Stockyard is a nice way to eat local, and get a good steak dinner. It's not a bad option for a date night either.Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐Vibe ⭐⭐⭐
Dinner/Saturday, Feb 19 One huge positive - we had a reservation and didn’t have to wait! But throughout the whole meal, there was always a considerable wait. The onion loaf was very good. I had ordered the french onion soup AND a Caprese salad - neither ever appeared. The asparagus was under cooked (and I like FIRM veggies) and the twice baked potato was twice baked and let to sit. VERY unappealing and not hot. The meat was OK - (I had a 7oz filet mignon) but not special. Will NOT be returning.
Absolutist a wonderful experience! Starting with the giant bowl of seafood bisque, followed by coconut shrimp, and The stock yard or fashioned. Perfectly cooked, drenched in house made garlic compound butter. As suggested by our waitress finished with the fried cheese cake. Drizzled with chocolate and raspberry glaze and, with every calorie!
We visited with a party of 8 and sat outside on a Saturday night. They had live music and I think I heard some Karaoke! Most of us had steaks and they were very good. Since this was January, it started to get cool after sunset, but they had multiple portable heaters spread around. My wife and I were quite toasty next to the heater. I think the prices were reasonable and the food and service were good. A win/win in my book! Recommended!
Their steak is very good. Although I love the rib eye, but I have to admit the stockyard old fashioned is the best, the flavor is just so perfect. The fried calamari is slightly salty but very good taste. Love the outdoor environment too
First time here and I was really impressed. Steak was cooked to near perfection and meat quality was superb. Great service with a smile took it over the edge. Keep up the great work guys ?
We read the reviews on this place when visiting Stetson mansion for a lunch with friends. We absolutely loved the service, restaurant and meal. Andrea was the best waitress and so funny! We had allot of laughs! We had appetizers, drinks and lunch! Delicious!
