Cute little local spot. That’s what my husband and I like. The experience was okay. I will admit this. I did come in 20 before closeting. I’m been so sick I didn’t even notice I’ve been very out of it lately. To why I decided to come. I’ve been with a very chronic cough and sore throat and requested the soup. I was denied and told we are not longer serving lunch and there’s no soup. Yet on the window it clearly states breakfast and lunch and a specials of the day menu which also states soup. I’m struggling with eating solid foods from this sore throat. I was really looking forward to it. So I settled with a Croissant. Which I couldn’t even eat. It was painful to eat. I ate and made the best of it but really disappointed and upset me was the fact that another guest after closing came in and ordered to go. She sits next to us. As she enjoys her soup of the day. The waiter did noticed I noticed. I just went in the car. To not say anything. Very discriminating or just plan lazy. I would have left a better star review if the other woman didn’t walk out and then sit next to me enjoying her soup.
Nothing fancy. Not too busy when I came for breakfast on a weekday. I ordered eggs Benedict with a side of hash browns. Good food. Service was friendly.
Whelp… we tried this place for a second time. The first time we went was during Covid and outside seats were the norm. It took forever to get seats. After we were seated… we were ignored. No drinks, menus, etc. after sitting for 1/2 hour with zero contact… we left. Which is where we are today. My son is in town with his girlfriend. She chose to come here for the reviews.I ordered soup and a sandwich over crepes, as the waitress told us how delicious it was.25 minutes into our wait for lunch, we heard soup was “done”. I asked our waitress if I would still be getting soup. She said absolutely as I had order earlier.20 minutes later, our meals are delivered.Pancakes bereft of the butter and syrup accoutrements2 sandwiches for my husband and son… fries dripping in oil … as they ran out of fries AND home friesAnd a pitiful sandwich on a plate … sans the soup I order with it.I asked for my soup and was told “sorry”. We’re out. I ordered AND confirmed I was still getting it. I never would have had a sandwich without the soup. So, I asked for a manager… which set off a firestorm. The cool starts yelling … no soup… no soup on Monday… it’s Tuesday. I told you we were out of soup. Ummm Nope. She said I was still getting it.The chef continued to yell at us. We stood up and left. How they can stay in business with this terrible management and treatment of customers is an outrage.
My parents were correct when they told me there was a wonderful lunch spot in Deerfield Beach. Sylvain’s Cafe is definitely worth a visit! The food was delicious! I had the steak sandwich with fries. Super tender steak cooked perfectly along with crispy fries! Yummy! Our server, Mel, was a joy and awesome help! I’ll most definitely be back!
Sylvain's Cafe was crowded as was every other place in that area of Deerfield Beach. We did not have to wait long for a table, but the waitress was very busy so we told her not to stress over us. I had eggs benedict which was very good, but I had to pay $2 extra for regular bacon. Prices on everything have gone up. I would go back to this place. I liked the waitress. Her name was Melody.
Fabulous place for late breakfast. Had Grand Slam which let us try a little bit of everything. Great service would definitely go back!
