I enjoy this type of place. The bartender was knowledgeable and attentive (plus very cute). Great choice of beers. The wings were spot on... crispy and delicious.The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the decor. Seems inconsistent and strung out over 20 or more themes. Not sure what's up with that.
We just moved into town and we're happy to find this spot!!! They have best buffalo chicken sandwich hands down!!! They call it the Stool Pigeon. The wings were good as well just fried a bit too hard for our liking. We also ordered the Flying Dutchman fish tacos and the Meat Wagon Burger and they were both good as well. We will definitely be back for more!!! Serve and atmosphere was great and we loved the 80's music! Think we found a new hangout spot for sure!
Service was great. Training a new server on the first day. She will be fine. Prices were reasonable. Would recommend.
My wife and I stopped in Crestview, Florida, on our way back home from Clearwater. We checked the local listings for somewhere to eat dinner and thought the Crooked Tale looked interesting. We found out it was interesting and delicious. A young lady named Jamie was our server. She was very friendly and courteous and answered all of our menu questions. The menu had a lot of options ranging from starters to sandwiches to plate dinners. My wife had the MOBLT (bacon, lettuce, tomato) with a cilantro-lime mayo and avocado and I had The Meat Wagon burger (8oz. burger, ham, pulled pork) topped with caramelized onion jam, garlic aioli, and beer cheese. We both got a side order of motherload-ED fries (fries covered with beer cheese, bacon, jalapenos, and scallions) with our sandwiches. Everything was terrific! I would definitely go there again. Ran across this place on our way home from Destin. It was awesome. Everything we ordered was great. The Garlic Parmesan Cheese Curds are a must. The same with the BLT and the Mac & Cheese. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Just an overall great experience. It really added to our vacation.
Just had the most amazing Summer Berry Salad EVER!!! The Southern Gentleman cocktail was delicious ? Our server Micah was wonderful. He was running around (on Trivia night) and was spot on with excellent service! Thank You Crooked Tale. We'll be back soon for more summer salads!

I say "it's okay" for a few reasons. Firstly, we were unaware they had live music. Which isn't necessarily an issue but it was obnoxiously loud. It's a small restaurant, you don't need multiple speakers blaring your music making it impossible to have a conversation with your family. Secondly, I had an issue with the food. The pretzel appetizer was far too salty but once I scraped it off, it was good. I ordered the cheese steak sandwich which had decent flavor but the bread was so solid it would chip a tooth. I was also unaware that their sweet potatoes fries are tossed in a cinnamon sugar mixture. Again, the flavor is good but no where did I see on the menu it mention that or I wouldn't have ordered them. However, my wife loved the shrimp alfredo she ordered. And to be fair, the wings were good as well.It's an okay place and we'll probably go again. I just hope there isn't live music and I'll also try different items on the menu.
Went with a group. Menu is very limited to sandwiches and burgers. Mediocre at best. Disappointed with selection. Daily special sandwich was dry with few ingredients. Took most home and added my own ingredients.
when the crooked Tale first opened the food was amazing! we went there often and was very happy with each visit. today is the third and final bad meal for me. I ordered the shrimp and grits off of the brunch menu. The shrimp were so overcooked that they were drawn up to the point of being in circles and they were covered in a super salty blackening seasoning ( I love a good blackening season) The grits were sweet! The whole dish was awful!!! I can say that the water was great and our server was very nice (And was tipped very well for her service) Never again.
