We traveled to the Cocoa Beach Pier after spending most of the day at the Kennedy Space Center. We were quite hungry when we arrived and we hoped to find a place to eat at the pier. We were quite pleased that we chose Pelican's Bar and Grill. The ambiance and location were exactly what we were looking for. The hostess was pleasant and seated us immediately at a table next to a window overlooking the beach and ocean. I am sorry to have forgotten our server's name but he was excellent and fun to talk with. We chose the Mojo Pork Nachos and the Crab and Shrimp Dip appetizers. The appetizers are pricey but they were large for sharing. Our party had Fish and Chips, Florida Gator Melt, Jumbo Coconut Shrimp, and Pier Burgers. We all liked what we ordered. We thought all of our dishes were well prepared and good. The portions were generous and the meal prices reasonable. We don't know if we will ever make it back to Cocoa Beach but we do know a place we would recommend to our friends who might travel there.
Overpriced for mediocre food. Busy due to spring break. Fish and chips were soggy when arrived and not a whole lot of food for the price. Pork nachos were disgusting and not much flavor. Would skip the whole pier eatting if came again.
If rated only on location, Pelican would be a 4 or 5 but it is a restaurant with only average food. Great location on the pier and good for a drink or quick bite while looking at the ocean
While visiting Cocoa Beach, we stay within walking distance of the pier so Pelican's usually shows up on our radar. We dropped in on a Thursday night about 5:30pm and were promptly seated by a window overlooking the beach and ocean. Our server Katie and her trainee were cordial and accommodating. I was drinking Rum Runners and my wife was drinking Pina Coladas. Both drinks were mixed very well. For dinner our choices consisted of Tuna Poke Bowl and the Chicken Sandwich with a piece of Keylime Pie and Chocolate Cake to go. Although the food was nothing exceptional it was still enjoyable. Overall, we had a good time.
I’m not one to really complain, but I was really looking forward to some good fresh fish since we were right on the ocean. I ordered the fish and chips basket. Worst fish I’ve ever had!!! The only reason I gave it a 2 was for the view. The fish was mush. Gross!!! Inedible!!
I don't usually write reviews, but I just had avery disappointing meal. Do not order the fish and chips. Fish was labeled cod, but I don't think it was. My husband had the coconut shrimp and that was disappointing, also. The restaurant must get by from it's location on the pier.
We were with family - 4 kids and 8 adults, and the manager started to be aggressive, insulting some part of my family because they decided the place didn’t fit everyone. I asked why he was so rude And he demand us to leave, the security guy came to force us to get out. So shamed and embarrassing. We drove one hour to be there and he destroyed our day
The atmosphere was really neat. The food arrived quickly but was just decent. Our waitress acted very much like a know-it-all and was often demeaning which I find outrageous for an establishment expecting tourists. After spending almost $100 on my tab, I moved away from my table so they could get it cleaned and ready to go for another family to be served. I sat at a chair to get a glimpse of the ocean and another server who knew I had just eaten there told me the chair was for dine-in customers only. I was flabbergasted.
Worst food, service and staff attitude I have ever encountered in over 40 years of international travel. The food was appalling (cold, stodgy and re-heated), arrived at the wrong time (starter and main course simultaneously) and was complained about to no avail - but even worse was the aggressive attitude of the staff, and particularly the 'owner' of the establishment who identified himself as Andrew (he would not give his full name). The only excuse offered was that they are a 'high-volume kitchen' - which seemed a lame excuse when the place was virtually empty. If you expect decent food and welcoming staff, eat elsewhere.
Food was good! Drinks were good n very strong. Loved the location and atmosphere of the place and Tay our server was great.
