I have always loved this place and ate here many, many times…HOWEVER…I have stopped recommending or attempting to go after the past 3 times I have been turned away due to “no longer taking anymore parties”. This last time was 7:45 and they close at 9. I understand everyone is short staffed and this is limited seating but that’s ridiculous. The young man hosting was very rude also. I would suggest placing a sign saying “no longer seating for the night”
A little secret waterfront wood shack to enjoy a draft beer appetizers and dinner. We found the place strolling the Clearwater Marina and liked the flow of the bait. We would come back!!
This place was refreshing different than a lot of other places we visited close by. It’s small and charming. We tried to go there the day before but they were full for the night. They don’t take reservations and close rather early. Thankfully for us, it was raining when we visited the second time so it wasn’t busy. There are only a few spots at the bar that are covered by a roof. We were lucky enough to snag the last 2 spots. When the rain stopped the place filled up quickly. We had the drunken shrimp (amazing) and some drinks. The cocktail I had (sangria) wasn’t anything to write home about but I didn’t have one any better anywhere else I went in Clearwater beach. This is a spot the locals go ??! We would love to come back next time we visit Clearwater.
Bait House looks like the name. Surprise- go thru the “store” and there’s a dozen tables and a bar out in the dock. On the water…yes. I decided to skip seafood for a night a go for a burger. My wife however stuck with her plan of while on the coast have seafood related meal so she got the catch of the day sandwich. Both of us were stuffed. It was a wonderful 1/2 lb burger and her fish cake sandwich was also a delight. Warning, there’s a limited menu but our selections were definitely spot on. Great atmosphere and all servers pitch in an take care of the patrons. Great place to eat!
Seriously, you need to eat here! They have the best fish tacos! Every year when we're in Clearwater we eat here. This past year, I made sure to get fish tacos at every restaurant we went to, and no one is better than bait house! I was disappointed every time, except at Bait House! When in Clearwater, eat here! Worth the trip!
If you want to experience what is otherwise the last remaining remnant of what used to be a sleepy beach town, than head to the Bait House. The menu, staff and local beers on tap will not disappoint!
What an absolutely fabulous spot. Great engaging staff in a unique setting, with great atmosphere. We headed here twice during our stay, the wait for tables was petty short (and much shorter than most over the NY holidays). The food, although a limited selection was great based on what we tried
