Decent donuts, but I really wanted to try a blueberry filled and 6 months of stopping in a few times I had a gentleman that doesn’t speak much English say it perfect. “No blueberry”. I ask if it would eventually be an option…response “No blueberry”. So I’m done waiting for a specific item from their menu. The donut itself isn’t the star, the options were what I prefer. After this wonderful experience of them being out of most donuts and no desire to replace broken equipment. I’ll just find ANY other donut shop. This place is not memorable enough to care. Your loss
We went early in the morning. Customer service was great but the doughnuts were tough. The dough itself didn't have much flavor at all compared to many other places we've been. The filling was hit or miss as to the amount in the doughnut. I enjoy trying different doughnut places everywhere we go and even though it wasn't to my taste, we still enjoyed our visit.
This is a really tough review for me. I had so much hope for this place. It was the first Shipley's in Florida.I absolutely love Shipley's kolaches. Sausage-cheese are the best. Their donuts are excellent. But that's in Houston. In Bradenton, this place is terrible. First off, let me talk about the food. The kolaches are the diameter of water balloons! OK, I exaggerate a bit. But their kolaches are supposed to be just a bit larger than the sausage in them. It's a whole different experience when you are eating mostly sweetened bread! Zero stars for the kolaches. The donuts taste like they were baked Wednesday. I bought them on Sunday! They are terrible! Now for the inside. There was one, just one person doing the counter and the window. Service was slow, as one would expect. Kudos to the one guy doing the job, he did his best. There was someone sweeping the floor who looked like he was transitioning into a zombie! Maybe he was the owner? And that brings me to the cleanliness of the place. It wasn't. There was dirt and trash on the floor. The trash bins were full and messy. The coffee fixing station was as empty as the baby formula shelves in a grocery store. I had to use the large sugar container behind the counter. Paint was chipping off the walls. The tables were unlevel and old looking. The AC was hot. I cannot imagine what the restrooms looked like because I did not go in them.I have seen cleaner service stations than the dining area of this Shipley's.That's the last time I go out of my way to visit that Shipley's!
Came at 9am on a Monday morning and closed. Not a holiday, no sign on the door, and Google Maps says it is open. Happened before. Good thing I live nearby. Great tasting do-nuts but it's a hit or miss if they are open or not.
Needed 6 dozen donuts for a business event so we called a couple of days in advance. On the morning of pickup, the donuts were not ready and no one knew anything about the order. I asked to speak to a manager and the employee working the register called a gentleman from the back who he said was the owner. The owner never talked to me....only the person working the register and I couldn't understand anything the owner actually said. Unfortunately they didn't seem concerned at all about not having our order. They don't seem to have their act together and didn't seem to care about the inconvenience they caused me and our business. It was probably one of the strangest interactions I've ever had with a business. I unfortunately will not use them again for any future events and certainly wouldn't recommend them.
By far the worst location I love shipleys being from Houston and all but I have a special order that if I don't call in the morning the shells get filled and I can't buy them.... I drive 5 hours to buy donuts and not one time has anyone answered the phone... I called every day for 30 days not one time did someone answer....the last time I drove down I got there 6 mins before they closed the guy inside locked the door in my face and I watched him throw away all the donuts I could have bought as I usually by 100 dollars worth since I drive so far for them... I called corporate nothing came of it. I do not recommend this location to anyone. I'll make the drive to Jacksonville from now on....
Stopped for chocolate filled donuts. They are always good, but not always available. Lucked out and got 1/2 dozen. Still good but they skimped a lot on the chocolate this time. Normally not sn issue. Will try it again.
I usually go there very early in the morning as I’m in the RV park close by. There is usually a very nice young man there. Today I went and two Spanish men were screaming at each other in the back. They knew I was standing there. Very unprofessional! Donuts not like DD but ok.
This place is my go to donut shop since I moved from manatee ave over to 70. The filled donuts are amazing, fresh and I've not been disappointed with any of there other products.
If you are a Texan living in Florida looking for a back-home donut experience, you will be disappointed. The donuts are not the same. Either the batter is different, or they are cooked different, but it is not the same. Especially the glazed donuts, which are unique/iconic to other donut shops served in a Texas Shipley's.However, the sausage and cheese kolaches were on point and DID remind me of Shipley's back home. The customer service was excellent. The gentleman was friendly, hardworking, and did make his best efforts to provide a great customer experience despite how busy they were. All in all, 3 stars, but I guess this was to be expected being a franchise. My recommendation to the owner, take a field trip to a Shipley's in Texas and figure out what you are doing differently than stores in the Lone Star State. Personally, I will stick to kolaches next time.
