The presentation and flavor of everything was excellent. We loved the warm bread, were delighted by the Duck Phyllo pie and truly enjoyed the Mixed Grill. We can't return soon enough, and heartily recommend Appollonia.
This spot has a good atmosphere. There is some nice outdoor seating too. The service was very good. The server was very knowledgeable and attentive. She kept checking in us but was not intrusive. The food was very good. I ordered the mixed grill (chose the gyro meat, shrimp and filet) It was delicious. I was able to substitute the vegetable orzo in place of the roasted potatoes.for an upcharge. It was worth it. The orzo was tasty. Also ordered the triple dip and saganaki as appetizers. Again they were delicious.!The lemon chicken soup was my favorite! I ordered the cup but could've done a 5gal bucket of it (not cIse I'm greedy but because it was that good to me..lol)There are many restaurant options in the shopping center but I suggest you give Apollonia a try.Oh! They serve drinks too if you wanna stop by for some.Enjoy!
Food here is always fresh and delicious. Authentic Greek cuisine. The restaurant just get congested during lunch time and the wait time to be serve gets slow. Other than that, really great food.
Very nice restaurant and the food is delicious. Definitely going back again. The Lamb Chops were cooked to perfection.
I was so excited to try this restaraunt! Great reviews. Needed reservations so we booked ahead.Sat at the bar and had drinks while waiting for an outdoor table to be available. The bartender was excellent! He was personable and offered a wonderful experience. The drinks he made were amazing. And he recommended his favorite and most popular dishes. When we were seated it went all down hill! We should have stayed at the bar and ordered. We sat outside, and it legitimately took over 20 minutes to be acknowledged by a server....and that was only becuase my husband went inside to inquire. The lady who was seated next to us, almost at our table, kept saying have they been out yet to take your order? The waitress was evidently overwhelmed and disorganized. She kept apologizing for how busy it was....yet also kept saying she was glad it was slowing down.We ordered the meatball app....and it was cold on arrival. Not only was it cold, we were never given silverware or napkins. We finsihed the app before seeing her since it was awhile before she returned; when she did return and we asked her for these things, she said it was someone else's fault it never arrived. So we ate the cold app with no utensils.....and used my drink napkin. She said she was going to bring us pita and dips and we never ever saw that. Every other table received their complimentary pita and dips....but we never did. We even said it could be wrapped to go and still never arrived. So we ordered more drinks while waiting for dinner...she spilled half my husband's drink and said sorry they filled it too high. We had our dinner arrive and it looked amazing. Again, it was cold though. Great flavors, but cold. We are guessing our food sat too long in the window and our server was too busy to notice. It was expensive for poor service. The food had such high potential and probably would have been a 5 if it was hot and we didn't get neglected. It also didn't help having a stranger almost at our table. We had baklava to go....and again.... our server said sorry it was tossed upside down but its still good. We got home and tried it and it was burnt tasting. I've never ever had bad baklava anywhere but this was the icing on the cake.Very disappointed tonight. Kudos to the bartender....he was the only positive tonight.
Wonderful assortment to chose from and great service. The food is delicious and fresh. There is much to enjoy here.
The place is in a nice place and the environment is really cool. The bread they serve is really good.Meatballs are delicious and the ideia to serve with some toast was very nice.Flatbread was ok.The moussaka was very good (I have a delicious recipe in my YouTube channel)The lamb with the rice was tasteless, but adding some salt was ok.The chocolate cake was ok.
Condensed Version: A promise made and not kept. Expanded version: Some three weeks ago I was tasked to make lunch reservations for a party of 10 folks for a normally slow Monday. Because of ongoing COVID-19 concerns, I sought "outside dining" reservations. I initially reserved via Open Table, but recognize that special requests are often not conveyed on Open Table. Once the reservation was confirmed, I followed up that same day with a phone call. After explaining my request to the receptionist, I was referred to the manager on duty who explained to me that my outside dining request was not something they would usually take, but honoring my request "should not be a problem". I was satisfied. Just to be certain, I called this past Sunday afternoon to confirm. The nice receptionist informed me that my request was noted but could not be guaranteed as outside dining occurred on a "first come-first served" basis. I thought it would be prudent, rather than to challenge her, to ask to speak to the manager. She referred me to "Eddie" who said to me that he was the manager. After explaining to me why they do not normally reserve the outside dining tables, he listened to the reason for my request, and kindly committed to honoring my request, stating very specifically that he would be present at 12:30 Monday (yesterday) to assure that my reservation was honored. When my party began arriving around 12:15, it was clear that there was no reserved area for us. When I questioned the receptionist, she informed me that she was unable to honor any such request, that all the outside dining tables were full, and that my party would be seated indoors. Naturally, I asked to speak to "Eddie". A gentleman came out to inform me that he was Eddie's father, that Eddie was not present, he was not aware of any such commitment, and there was nothing he could do other than to apologize. My wife and I were unable to join the rest of our party (who remained owing to their time constraints) at their assigned indoor table. By all accounts, the party was reasonably satisfied with their experience. My wife and I went elsewhere. It's really too bad that we were left to feel that we were not respected as a patron; it may be that some day in the future the Apollonia Grill will regret losing us as a customer.
Everything on the menu is exceptional. Only the highest quality ingredients, a perfect meal every time. outstanding service, a real neighborhood gem.
Recommended by a friend, we decided to make an early booking to avoid crowds. We sat outside as it was relatively quiet on a Sunday noon time. Menu was classic Greek and offered many selections for meat lovers as well as vegetarian. As we missed our Greek food, we ordered a mixed meze platter and Saganaki. Our server Kyia took time to explain the selections and helped slotted another table to allow us more space for the food; as the seating was still light. The meze portion had a good spread and we enjoyed the meal. The flaming cheese Saganaki was quite a show by Kyia and went well with the pita and house bread basket; although it was a bit on the salty side for our taste. Nonetheless, we liked the place and atmosphere and service was great! Covid outdoor seating was nice for this time of year in Sarasota. Will definitely return to try more selections in future!
